Obama calls on GOP to pass Small Business Jobs Bill

Is this the same CBO that under pressure concluded that Obama care would reduce costs? Let me make the assumptions and I can make anything deficit neutral.

I also think it is totally inappropriate to promote a position with automated responses to congress on this forum. It is one thing to share an opinion it is quite another to run a political message directed at influencing Congressional votes.

I think that post should be removed--it is a terrible prescient.

Ted -

You said that you "...think it is totally inappropriate to promote a position with automated responses to congress on this forum."

If a person chooses to write to his or her Senators and Representative about the Jobs Bill, or any other issue, the steps that I provided just makes that process a little easier. I had to figure out how to make the contacting process easy and make it the same for anyone living anywhere in the country. That's all. There is no automated response.

Ted, if you and I, and the other participants in AutoCareForum are not going to influence Congress on an important issue that matters to car wash owners, who is?

Allan,

You miss the point entirely. I am opposed to more spending and if I prepared a suggested statement to senators and congressman linked to make it easy ways" to send my biased statement to vote "NO" on the bill that would be totally inappropriate for this forum. That's the point, in my opinion this has no place on the forum--the forum I think is the place to share individual ideas but not campaign for an issue asking others to write to congress. You are crossing the line when you beg for others to forward your cause.

Ted

Ted -
I ain't beggin' for nuthin'. It's not MY cause, it's OUR cause.
Alan Bussey

My cause is bigger than my interest in the car washing business. My cause is to not do anything that will assist Obama -- even in the smallest way -- in getting reelected, getting other Dems elected, or being a part of helping them in any way with their devious socialist agenda.

I hear Hugo Chavez is a snappy dresser and a gifted poet, but that doesn't mean I'm going to ignore his other bad habits because he does a few things right.

Well as of yesterday the bill is now advancing and seems to have enough votes to pass. This should be a good test to see if a bill labled as being good for business actually is. Anyone want to make a bet on weather it really does, and if we see the results in our lifetime?

Anyone who believe the Jobs Bill will do anything but favor unions and other Obama operatives for payback, I want to sell you may car wash. It is a 2/2 and I'll let you have it for just a GIM of 1. That's right, I wash 4,000 cars per day in my 2 IBA @ $7 ea, so you can have it for only $10,220,000.

These are two short articles about the procedural vote yesterday, which is known as 'cloture'. As this voting procedure is intentionally designed, the vote yesterday stops the addition of any new ammendments and shuts off debate to prepare for the main (and final) vote. Apparently the main vote on the bill will happen by Friday.

The Senate has PASSED the Jobs Bill

Great news!

Today, the Senate passed the Small Business Jobs Bill, HR 5297. This is very good news for car wash owners and suppliers. It is also very good news for all small businesses nationwide.

The next step is for the bill to be sent back to the House of Representatives for the House's final passage. Several months ago the House passed a different version of HR 5297, so it must reconsider the Senate’s version.

It is expected that the House Speaker will seek passage of today's Senate version, rather than hold a reconciliation conference with the Senate, which would likely delay, or even jeopardize final passage of the bill. We are hopeful the House will take up the bill by early next week, which could mean signing of the bill by the President by late next week.

If you have not yet seen it, this is a link to a Summary of HR 5297: the proposed Small Business Jobs and Credit Act 2010:

http://carwashloans.com/Summary_of_the_Small_Business_Jobs_Act.html

There is a link on that page to come back to AutoCareForum. Or, you can just use your browser's 'Back' button.

There are provisions in the Act that, once signed into law, suddenly makes the car wash business more profitable. As a result of this Act, as more people get back to work car washes should see an increase in revenue and a further increase in profit.

This is a very good day for car wash owners and suppliers.

WOW a 50 billion dollar bill which is deficit neutral- Allen please don't run for public office you are trying to save your business not ours, and certainly not America. Principles Matter!!!

Shame

Ted

Alan,

Now that you happy about HR5297, why don't you explain to us just how happy we should be about the (Form 1099 reporting requirements) that is included in the bill.

Ted -

The cost of the Jobs Bill is not even a third of the number you stated. The bill is entirely paid, and then some, by interest earned from temporary Treasury fundings to healthy banks for small business loans, and by closing long-known tax loopholes.

Tom -

I am familiar with the 1099 issue that resulted from a prior Act. The Small Business Jobs Bill does not address 1099 reporting. While a 1099 reporting fix was floated yesterday and this (Thursday) morning, 1099 reporting is certainly not a requirement of the Jobs Bill. Some Senators and Representatives have said recently that the unrelated 1099 fix will be done very soon.

I too am a proponent of free enterprise and less government. After we get our family, friends, neighbors, and customers back to work let's very quickly fix all of the things in our country that we want to fix.

Access to loans is great, but comes nowhere near addressing the problem. The problem isn't money for us to buy new equipment. The problem is for jobs to be created by the private sector so that people have money to pay for a car wash. Un and underemployment here in Cleveland is 15-20%. People without money, jobs, and job insecurity cannot be overcome simply by throwing money at the problem.

Why not a bailout for the car wash industry? Are we not too big to fail too? The best thing we could do for the American people is make government smaller and get them the hell out of the way of the American people.

Reagan was spot on when he said, "Government is not the solution to our problems, government is the problem." But that is going to begin to change on November 2, 2010.

Remember, liberals want us all to be equal - equally miserable. So far they're doing a helluva job. Health care, pork barrel stimulus that doesn't stimulate, cap and trade proposals give every rational business owner reasons to hold back on spending and job creation. Reduce spending, cut taxes, repeal health care, get rid of all the current anti-growth policies, provide a sliver of certainty, and American business large and small and the American people can and will do the rest. Continue the road we're on and a few years from now we'll look back at 2008-2009 as the good 'ole days.

I'm from the government and I'm here to help...

Government creates problems, then forms committees of incompetent corrupt politicians for the express purpose of making them bigger. Government does NOT "fix" problems.

I'm a big Karl Rove fan, but he seems to suffer lately from the same malady that afflicts Alan. Neither has a clue about the level of contempt the American people have for current politics.

I believe that the majority of voters are very fed up with the government and politics as it is today. Seems that whenever they tell you they are making a program that "helps" you it hurts more than it helps. We are definitely a victim of too much government and a belief that we must take care of everyone's needs whether they deserve it or not. We have created the ultimate welfare state.

Reminds me of an old joke.

A little boy was playing in the front yard when he noticed two dogs having sex. He ran in the house to get his dad.

He asked his dad, "What are those dogs doing?"

The dad did not want to get into the facts of life so he said, "That dog in the back hurt his front legs so the dog in front is trying to help him along,"

The son replies, "Gee dad, dogs are just like people. Every time you try to help someone out you get screwed!"

Hogwash - where is the $30 billion coming from? And "closing ... tax loopholes" equates to raising taxes. NO MORE TAXES FOR ANYONE. MORE GOVERNMENT IS NOT THE ANSWER - IT IS THE PROBLEM. How about lowering taxes and getting the government out of our businesses to create more demand for borrowing. Free money would not fill a need that's not there - It would just attract the freeloaders. Comrade Obama's approach is backwards. That's why we're in such a deep hole.
