Has anyone heard of a carwash selling gift cards or prepaid cards etc. at a mall Kiosk for the holliday season. Seems like it would be great exposure as well as a great sales opportunity. Obviously expenses would be pretty high - labor , rent, marketing etc.
I often thought about it. I was trying to figure out the logistics. That is all figured out and here's what I need at the mall. A table!
With wireless access via tethering my iphone, remote access to my washpay server to activate my cards (that work with my ss bays, IBA and pet washes) and with Mercury Payment Systems just release a Virtual Terminal that allows you to clear credit cards via a web browser. I have everything I need.
Since I also do all my own signage, I can take car of that too.
Still, I don't think I'm gonna do it anyway But maybe one year.
I looked into this a few years ago. The Mall wanted a minimum 90 lease at $1500 per month. Add into that the cost of staffing the booth for 10 hours per day, 7 days a week. After looking at these costs, it became obvious for me, as a one location operator, that there was no way I could sell enough certificates to ever recoup my costs, let alone make a profit. I passed.
We are able to do a holiday lease so it is from Nov 17th - Dec 26th. We also were able to get a "marketing table" so it is not mandantory to staff all of mall hours.
