I'm in need of a new office computer and before I go off to Best Buy or Office Depot does anybody here have a good online source for computers/electronics that are reasonably priced. And for some reason throwing it down in the parking lot didn't fix it hmmm.

Dell still makes a solid computer. I need a new one myself, and I'll probably go to Walmart where you can get a decent one for $300, then upgrade the memory.

I used to build my own computers, but it's just not worth it anymore unless you're building something for a specific purpose such as gaming or 3D rendering. You can get a good midrange Dell for $500-600 which you'll pay another $100 for to put together yourself and still need to buy an operating system.

OR buy a user friendly computer (Apple).

The new Microsoft Surface Pro received a good review. Really depends on how you plan to use the computer.

I tend to favor Best Buy or icr Center because they are local and if I have an issue I can bring it there for service.

Beware of Best Buy, their Geek Squak is a scam. They make their money by trying to sell you things you don't need, or if they can't they "find" things that are bad which aren't and charge back to the manufacturer to replace them.

I agree. I decline their pitch for optimization or all sorts of "Free stuff" that is really a free trial and then charges kick in.

I went with a Lenovo Ideapad with Intel Core 13 processor. After using it for a year, I bought one for my wife. It’s a great machine. Light weight and starts up/shuts down really fast. It did take me a little time to get use to Windows 10 though. I got at Best Buy on sales $325.

What MEP said. I've used microcenter before too, they are good.

I'd upgrade the RAM and the go with an SSD hard drive, and you can't really go wrong.

I got lucky when I was dumping trash ... someone threw out a dead thrown away laptop. It was easy to trouble shoot the power supply as the problem. Some risk ... but it turned out there was nothing else wrong ... I reformatted & turned out to be worthwhile.

OK ... I will cover my head on the next suggestion ... based on the above maybe we operators should encourage more use of our trash receptacles!

Does it have a grammar check?
Well, its corrected now ... I guess by covering my head worrying about advocating for possibly more trash barrels instead of fewer ... I missed an easy grammar correction. I don't mind constructive criticism but "form over substance" some extremely misleading lies do bother me.
