Hey guys I have a CAT 5CP pump that has oil leaking between the crank case and the head. From looking at the cat diagram I'm pretty sure its the oil seals behind the plungers that are the culprit allowing the oil to leak out.

Question: Can this seal replacement be done on the pump stand? I searched the thread and I don't see anything regarding this on a 5CP, I do see where a 310 was discussed. From that discussion it appears some think it can be done on the stand and some say take the entire crankcase apart.

Any tips or tricks that I should look out for on this?

This would be my first time having to change the oil seals so trying to get prepared.

Thanks

You can separate the head while on there. You will need to disconnect some hoses in order to have room. It's not hard. I usually remove the whole head only when swapping it with a new sleeved head.

Which plunger seals are you referring to? First time running into this problem so it could be that. I figured there has to be some seals behind the plungers to keep the oil out.
