That's exactly my set up and it seems to work well for me.

I accept CC, $1 tokens, and customer supplied quarters.

I know your thought is converting from quarters to tokens or $1 coins will be the fastest relief, but in all honesty converting to tokens will be your more expensive avenue and probably the most time consuming, and not really generating more revenue. To get good high quality security tokens alone will take approximately 2 weeks, then you have to change anything within your changer, Coin Acceptors in the bay and vac equipment, Any signage you want to add about tokens, etc.

I would strongly advise to install CC readers. This is going to do 2 things, increase revenue and decrease your coin useage. Revenue increases with CC will be almost immediate. After all thats what we're in business for. With the increased revenue you can then begin the process to convert to tokens. Credit Cards are easy to install, variant on your equipment set up. You may have to change timers and put your CC equipment in. From start to finish, from the time i ordered my last conversion of a 10 bay + 10 Vacs to having everything installed was 9 days. I set up the Processor while the equipment was in transit that took 2 to 3 days. As soon as the equipment arrived i was installing and up and running. Doing all this while doing the daily of keeping 2 washes clean and running.

I would just add:
The variable here is if you have multichannel coin acceptors or not.

If you do not, tokens will be a BFD because each bay/vac will need a new one.
If you do have multichannel acceptors, all you need is one sign at the changer, a new dispensing wheel in the changer (the capability to program the changer for the new token, 1 coin instead of 4 per dollar), and the tokens. I know Van Brook carries a few standard security tokens that are ready to ship. At .35 cents a token you'd be looking at $1,400 for 4,000 tokens, maybe $100 for the hopper wheel, and the sign.
Credit cards require an account to be set up, which can be tedious as well.
A Crypto pay set up for 4 bays would be $2,400 (4 taps and a coordinator), $200 for the "e-receipts" capability if desired, and all related signage in each bay.

I like Randy's advice to not panic, wait for things to slow down to make a more informed decision and use the increased visits to walk the property and check the equipment.

All great info everyone. Thanks for your time responding. I am going to take it all under review and come up with a reasonable solution. I do have a local person who is going to be taking on a 3-4 day a week light maintenance/cleaning. No money handling.
I believe I have a multichannel acceptors. I will confirm and snap some pics to post. There is no other "token" type businesses around. If converted the tokens would be the only ones for miles.
I am reading up on all of the back and forth between Nyax, Monex, Crypto. Quite mind numbing trying to figure it all out. Too bad a single company can't figure it out and provide an all around solution for SS. I am trying to avoid problems and have a nice smooth transition and not take it in the pants on fee's.

Pics of backside of meterbox. Crypto tap plus systems on order with side mount boxes and new LED screens. Can anyone provide feedback on the pictures? Looks to me like an adjustable coin slot that has an actual quarter installed as a spacer.

The coin slot is a Slugbuster coin acceptor. By new LED screens, I assume you mean a Dixmor timer. That timer will replace the black box and display on the door.

Thanks Dan. Yes, I called it an LED screen. Dixmor LED7 timer which mounts in the new side mount box. My understanding is slugbusters can adjust for tokens. Is that correct?

The slugbuster you have is single coin...the quarter that is in the unit is your sample coin. A slugbuster2 will have 2 sample coins, typically a quarter and a token as well a a set of dip switches to set the tokens value for pulses.

A Slugbuster II can be single or dual coin accepters depending on the model, unfortunately cbchevy4x4 is correct in that it's a single coin accepter (either a quarter or a token).
It appears the one you have is a Slugbuster II "PEM-35" and you would've needed a "PEM-55E".

I would add the cryptopay & run it for a little while. In the future I would get the dual coin & swap over to tokens but it doesn’t have to be now. I actually added tap to my cryptopay swipers I installed 2 years ago on Friday. They are already being used a fair amount. These were my homemade answer to my super old Futura boxes. Not the prettiest but it gets the job done.
