Is corrosion of the stem threads normal? All were installed with the factory brass elbow and those seem fine. The smaller 5 series is on the SS pump stand and it is a little worse. Maybe it's the HP soap? The pH is about 8 at the bay. The other one is from a 10 series and is not as bad. It is on a spot free pump. I'm not sure how old these are but the wash was built in 2003.

Quick answer....yes it's normal.

I keep several spare BR10 and BR5 stems around. It's a normal service item if and when they fail.

Clean the regulator, replace the stem....and replace the orings and forget about it for several years.

The stems are steel. They rust through from the inside.

Their supposed to be nickel plated...I would think they would hold up better than that?

It is possible that they are 15 plus years old so maybe I shouldn't complain.

One thing I forgot to mention was that the small stem o-ring in the seal kit for the 10 series was too big and I had to reuse the old one. Anyone have that issue? The other three in the kit fit fine.
