Looking toupdate my Phone system at my Tunnel / C Store.

I have 3 Lines and 5 Extensions.

Looking for something simple. Like this:

Also want to run new wires and trying to figure simplest or best way to do this.

Seperate lines for all or most from the wiring block to the extension, From the wiring block to some central location and spread out seperatley from there, or "Daisy Chain" from wiring Block to closest extension, to next closest etc.

Daisy Chain is easy but not always as simple to trouble shoot.

I am not real tech savvy so no sophisticated stuff please.

I have worked in telephony for almost 30 years. Perhaps it would be better if you started it with what you the various lines for.

For example, we have no POTS (plain old telephone lines) at our location. We have a toll free number and a virtual PBX and we can tie VoIP handsets to it if we wanted. Everyone has cell phones so we just redirect to them. Our data is DSL and out alarm system uses their own proprietary wireless WAN.

I agree with bigleo.... But you could look at a hosted solution? Maybe like twillio? I'm on their mailing list and I believe they offer IP phone service now? Twillio use to not make out going calls eazy. Or astrix?

Oh the advantages are unlimited rolling lines and way cheaper fees.

We have 2 POT lines. 1 For the Gas station / C Store / Car Wash Business.One for anoher business we run out of that location and a Fax Line.

We also use the current system extensions for intercom between the Gas and Car Wash Cash Cages and Back office.

So bigleo do you actually use ringcentral? I was intrigued with openvbx.... and only messed with that some.


I can't directly speak about ringcentral. But if you couldn't figure out how to get it to work. They might have a list of local consultants?

OK, color me dense. I don't get it. Ring central phones start at $99 for a 2 line phone and the AT&T phone I linked to is $75.00 has 4 line capability plus I would need to connect 5 extensions to a router which means I have to upgrade / replace the Comcast 4 port router which also handles my CC (2 ports, one for gas and c Store and one for the wash) and computer, and Sec Cameras, plus the hosting cost, versus just using Phone lines, and Ring Central is worth the extra cost because? what am I missing?

No the point is to save money on the service and on not mataining your own PBX. But I don't know anything about ring central. I didn't even notice the per user fee.

As for Comcast.... That is a non issue because all you would need is a cheap switch.

I am surprised you are getting that price on your phone service.... I pay that much for one business line.

Certainly prices and services change constantly. What I like about ringcentral (or any virtual PBX) is the flexibility.

I am checking into VOIP & hopefully eventually transitioning to it ... considering our 4 line 4 phone ancient Executone PBX that we picked up from a selling out grocery store for $25 has somewhat seen its last days maintenance wise.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems like Earl could come out better economically in his situation because it seems like some of the VOIP providers include 3 channels at no extra cost than just one channel. It seems like channels are very similar to separate analog lines in each digital channel's functionality.
