Pipe Cleaners & Disolving Calcium/Magneseum

Looks like I'm going to be working through the hard water issues for a little while longer as we troubleshoot why we have good RO water now, but it's very hard (15 grains). In the meantime I'll have to clean injectors on my D&S 5000 several times. Does anyone know where I can get tiny pipe cleaners to clean the injectors? I've been all over town and can only find those that are too large diameter. Secondly, is there some miracle way to clean the white crusty build up out with chemical, such as CLR? I'm trying to find a faster/easier way to clean the injectors than removing the Christmas tree of pipe, fittings, and hose on both sides of the injector (no unions or working swivels installed).

Vinegar works on calcium build up. Let stuff soak for a while and it should rinse out with water. If it's very heavy, you may need to dump out the old vinegar and put in fresh.

I don't understand...are you saying you "have good r/o water but it is very hard"....the water should be soft BEFORE it gets to the r/o unit. If it is hard from the r/o tank then it sound like the resin in your softners might need to be changed....if the TDS (total disolved solids) is high in your r/o tank then it sounds like your membranes might be the problem....usually there is a charoal filter before the membrane and that could be the problem as if the charcoal unit is not working properly then chlorine could be damaging the r/o membranes prematurely which would mean a higher TDS level since they would not be filtering properly...have all these been checked?

hey red besides owning a wash i am also in the tool rental busines we use tiny orifice cleaners for our propane heaters that could work they are hard to find. we get them from a company called berquist. u should be able to find them on google. if i had the info i would pass it along but i dont have it with me. not sure on the diameter u need but thought this could help

I keep a cutting torch tip cleaner, has different sized "rods", handy. It works great on all sorts of tips, injectors etc. Also, does your water softener and RO carbine tank have automatic heads for cleaning. We used to have the mechanical heads and replaced them digital heads. They work better and have less parts to deal with. I know some RO units have carbine tanks with no automatic heads. You have to manually clean them. Disconnect the carbine tank and reverse the water flow. Flush it this way until the discharge water is clear. A drop of chlorine will trash the RO membrane. A simple pool test kit will work on your incoming city water. If you dont mind, which location?
