Polar Freeze Guard

Can you provide us with more details?

When did you install it? Self serve bays? Automatics? Where is your installation located?

Thanks

I think we installed it in November in 1 self service bay and tested to see if it would work, it did freeze once but that was because i did not have it adjusted rite i readjusted and then after it got really cold and the bay did not freeze i installed it on the other 5 bays. no freze ups at all. Location is in CT.
You do have to work with it to get it adjusted so you dont use to much antifreeze. I would say to do 1 bay first and make sure is is adjusted first then turn the rest on.

How cold was really cold? I'm looking for something that would go down below -20F. I suppose you just make the mixture richer?

I no we where at 0 plus the wind chill. I no polar freeze is made in michigan and i belive he has been down to the temp you are talking about.

Are you using rv anti-freeze? That seems kind of pricey when compared to something like methonal. How much do you use? Any thoughts on that?

I am using rv anti-freeze to tell the truth i do not no how much i used, i use about 3-4 oz per bay per purge, i was buying it buy the gallon at tractor supply and was getting the best price there.
I think rob at polar freeze can tell you about how much he goes through, and i belive you can get a better price in your state on rv - antifreeze from what rob has told me.

As for methonal it is much less but it will evaporate i think and it if hard on hoses and pumps.

I talked with the guys at Polar out at the ICA show. I'm interested in putting it at one of my locations with a 2 bay SS this fall and seeing how it works. I waste too much water, despite having weepmizers installed.

I was wondering about purging the RV antifreeze out of the line when the customer wants to wash their vehicle. Do they seem to care when its pink antifreeze spraying at first?

It doesn't purge the line with antifreeze - it purges with air, shoots just a small amount of antifreeze to displace the small amount of water that stays in the hose and purges it with air again.

Recommend hooking it up to your foam brush or just using methanol soap?
It's for the wands. You'd have the foam brushes freezing up while in use if you didn't use methanol.

We have a system which injects the methanol soap into the lines after the customer uses the brush with the summer soap to wash with. In our case I have yet to see the summer soap freeze during use. Been minus zero more times than I care to remember. The original thought was to inject windshield washer fluid, but the methanol soap was cheaper. We inject a different color methanol soap than the summer soap. So when the customer starts the brush it comes out one color then changes to the next.
