prep gun tank getting hot

yesterday the 40 gal, tank for our prep gun was almost scalding hot. so i was like ok its just the bypass on the pump. not the case this morning it was still warm being off all night. It is fed with cold water. Help kinda weird

Still probably from the bypass. Water can retain heat for a long time in a large tank. Is you systems pressure switch driven? Are you using total shutoff guns? If so, you should use a true unloader if you only have a pressure regulator. That will reduce energy from the motor and actually 'unload' the head when the gun is released, which will save lots of electricity and wear on the pump and motor. Lastly, are you leaving the system 'on' overnight where the pump will turn on and off cycling because the pressure on the prep gun leaked down?

we shut it off when not in use. our guns leak water when there on an not in use. if the pump stays on for like an hour you almost cant stick your hand in tank. thanks alot gona go look at ypass rite now.

Hi Mogustus,
Check the high pressure hose, spray tips and spray guns for blockages. Water will heat up faster in the tank if more water is being bypassed to it.

Also make sure the pump is only turning as fast as it needs to for the flow and pressure you're using.
