Would like to hear from everyone when/ if you announce price increase. Week , month ? Any announcement at all or do ya just do it. My first wash I put up a few signs to make them aware and never heard a word. My 2nd site is really busy and it’s overdue and would like to hear everyone’s “way”

No announcement, we just do it. Had 3x price increases over the last 2 years trying to get the prices up to today's pricing. Previous owner didn't raise prices for 20 years, and probably rightly so, more than half the functions in-op when we took over

That’s definitely the way I’m leaning. Just needed to hear it. Nobody reads signs anyways. :) Appreciate it

100% with Keno. New sign, new prices. I do not believe notice in advance is necessary. Probably only if you have memberships and people will be seeing a new amount charged to their monthly bill, but other than that, I would not say it is needed.

I have not raised prices since august of 2020
That change went along with new packages and a Commander paystation.

I wanted to last fall
But as I have stated on other threads -I spent last year testing new products and methods of application.

Ahearns’ sent me the new menu board proof last wednesday.
I m going up as soon as this all arrives.
No announcement.
I will say this - I never just raise the price on a current menu board.
Last time - new wash names and packages
This time - my current top wash will now be second with an all new top wash package and changes to the bottom 2 packages.
I always want the Customer to experience the reason for the new prices.

They should know why with this economy, no explanation needed :) When you think about the big picture of all of it I don’t know why I felt the need to explain or show why. McDonald’s , restaurants, gas ..all the way down the line. Nobody explains they just do

40 years ago I used to agonize over raising my prices. Now I just raise my prices when the time comes, no signs, no notice. I don’t understand the mentality of the car wash operator who keeps his prices low thinking that because he has the lowest prices, he’s going to get the bulk of the car wash business. I don’t think it really works out that way, all the low-priced car wash is going to get is the low life business. I was at a car was yesterday their price in the SS bay was $5 for 4 minutes, the owner said they pay it. Raise your prices as high as you can.

Being the low price person in town is a losing proposition.

I bought a wash 2 years ago
5 miles from my other wash in another town
At the time it was $6-$7-$8- $9
I could not believe it 🤦‍♂️

Hauled the D&S to the recycling center
Fixed it up- put in a used Razor
Raised the crap out of the prices
Never heard a single word and washing more cars
Now I m going to raise them again!

We notify our members when we increase prices.

When we raised our per car customers last time, which was the same time as the membership, we did use signs for the first times ever. I would have preferred not to, but my dad did. It didn't hurt anything.

Raising prices the last time was the easiest time thanks to inflation.

Does the grocery, hardware, or any store for that matter let you know when they are going up on their price...nope. Dont waste time making up signage to inform customers of the pending increase and posting it for 30 days, youre just loosing more revenue. Just do it!!! I just raised prices at a site i took over last april on the IBA, changed all the packages, added ceramic and graphene to the top wash and bumped all the others down, made a completely New menu sign, and had the wife do the voice over on the paystation this time... the only complaint ive gotten is why the dryer didnt turn on on the lower packages, my response is did you read the menu? The Dryer is only on the top package, they want the dryer they can pay for it imo.

Im going to raise prices on the SS I just bought and I am not going to display any signage about it. The thing is I am not going to change the $2 start. I am only going to change the time per quarter. Right now its 30 seconds per quarter and I am going to drop it to 25 seconds.

The next price increase will come when I switch from quarters to dollar coins and people will be forced to pay in dollar increments instead of 25 cents (We will still accept quarters if the customer brings their own). I already implemented dollar value tokens this weekend that is dispensed through a Nayax credit card reader.

Like many carwashes I usually delay too long on raising prices. In the past 2 months I have raised all prices at all locations. The vacuums are the last, because I need to change out many timers to allow a $2.00 start. There has been no customer push back. Our customers understand the need. Every day you delay that increase, means less money to pay your own bills.
