Pur Water Reclaim Down

My reclaim system is shut down. It will not start or prime. I used the method they gave me when I first installed it 6months ago. I also use this method when I clean the strainer to get it to prime (loosen lid on strainer until it starts overflowing then tighten down). It never starts to overflow. I also tried priming it with a hose. I used the reset instructions from Pur Water with no success. I also pulled lid off first reclaim tank to make sure the pump stub was under water. It will start then shut down after about 15 seconds with the red light blinking. I also tried it on "hand" and "auto" modes. Not sure what to do now except for wait until tomorrow and call tech support. I noticed that pressure gauge does not show any pressure during start up. Any ideas?

sounds like the pressure switch is clogged. should be a 3/8 pvc flex tube with compression. nut on both ends. its been a while and i am not on site now....but i am pretty sure this is on the front of the unit feeding from the strainer area up towards the control panel. disconect the pvc tube at pressure switch end and turn on on hold the hose away from you and the black junk will flow out the tube. ......... if there is not enough pressure in this tube...the pressure switch will cut off the unit as it thinks there is no water in the system.

I am assuming you meant the small clear tubing running from the bottom of the strainer up to what looks like a chrome solenoid (the low pressure sensor). I took that line off and cleaned it out to no avail. I am scratching my head on why I am not getting any pump pressure even though there is water in the strainer. I am assuming that when the strainer lid is on it creates suction to pull water from the reclaim tank, correct? Could be a bad pump.

Pressure switch could be bad. I just replaced one on a Con-Serv unit. I jumped it out to make this determination.

yes.... you have the correct tube. typically disconecting this and either blowing air though the line or simply turning on and priming the pur clean solves this issue. I also agree....it could be the pressure swith....i have replaced this too....but at 6 months old i would be surprised. let me know what tech support says and what solves the issue. good thing this does not shut you down.

If when you are filling the strainer and it never overflows. Sounds like a check valve down in your tank isn't working. I'm asuming there is a check valve in your tank not sure though.

This morning, before calling Pur Water's tech support, I stuck a hose down the input pipe from the strainer and let it run until the strainer overflowed and then started the unit. It fired right up. I saw some large air bubble come out of the inlet pipe that I ran the hose down. I am wondering if there was an air lock. All is running good so far and even though I lost the weekend of reclaim water I did discover that my side blasters were not set on reclaim on one of my IBA's so I guess this happening will help me save a some water in the long run. Thanks for all your help.

Next time aroound if the Problem arises again.

Turn on the the pump with the strainer basket filled with Water, but don't put the lid on it. Just be ready to turn off the pump when the strainer basket has run dry.

The pump is not that smart and just sucks water if it there. With a pump error eliminated, you can find the cause of the condition some place else.

Hope this helps in the future.
