I always try to buy pure gas and not ethenol based fuels based on the fact that pure gasoline has higher btu energy compared to ethenol fuels. I have tracked it for the last year and I always get at least 15% better mileage when I use pure gas compared to ethenol. You can go the the website pure-gas.org for a list of gas stations that sell pure gas. It is listed by state and is easy to find a station. For my full size pickup it is equivelent to getting 40 free miles on every tank.

Interesting. I had a car that required higher octane gas (super) and I used to give it the ethanol fill from time to time as it has the octane of a mid-grade gas.

I know that diesel has more BTU than gas and is typically cheaper around here. One of the reasons I opted for a diesel truck over a large V8 or V10 in the 3/4 ton trucks.

I was just wondering if anyone locally still had gas that had no ethanol. I've noticed stickers on many gas pumps that said the fuel contained 15% ethanol. When I get fuel from those, I have to get super or my truck runs like crap. I stopped at an independent station recently that I don't normally use - they were out of super and I was almost empty so I filled up with regular. Not only did my truck run better and have more power, I got better mileage. It must be pure gas.

I always buy the pure gas, our area is saturated with 10% Ethanol, and E85, or 15 % Gas 85% Ethanol, and some stations have blender pumps for the flex fuel cars and you can select the percentage, and price. I always use 100% gas in my Nissan Altima Hybrid, as it starts and stops alot and runs better on real gas, and is giving me almost 41mpg city. I buy Premium Diesel in my Skidsteer with a higher cetane rating. It's green i think and exhaust smells better and smokes less, and gives more HP. Within 4 miles i can buy gas from $3.72 all the way to $3.99 right now quite a spread. Always buy premium for the small engines, my leaf blower lost all the rubber lines to the Ethanol eating it away.

Ethanol eats all kinds of rubber parts - fuel pump diaphrams, the diaphrams in 2 stroke carbs, fuel lines, etc. One fix that I know of for fuel lines is to use fuel injection line instead of conventional rubber hoses. The fuel injection lines are made to withstand the ethanol. I have a 41 Ford pickup truck and the ethanol ate away all my rubber lines, fuel pump diaphram, and accelerator pump plunger. What a nightmare to replace.

That is a neat website. Unfortunately there is no pure gas stations anywhere near where I live. I am stuck with the ethanol blend.

Yes, it is our government saving us from ourselves again. Yea, lets use corn in the fuel. Helps the farmers and the environment, they say. So now food prices are up. The ethanol gas makes the vehicles run like crap, and we get 10-20% less mileage. So we use more fuel. Any small motor (pressure washer, blower, weed eater), gets ruined---even with the stabilizer. I just had my pressure washer rebuilt for the third and last time. Going to electric, just like I did with the chain saw and tiller.

Just another example of how stupid goverment officials are!

The whole thing is messed up. They say it's to reduce our dependency on foreign oil, but haven't we been at war with these nations for years to keep that foreign oil flowing to us?

I'm pretty sure that ethanol is all about the Iowa caucus. It's not about the farmers, it's about the politicians. I hate em all.
