quarters for change falling inside cashier

I find a few quarters inside my goldline acw every day. It's like they aren't all making it into the coin return cup when a customer receives change from heir carwash purchase.

Is something wearing out in there?

Thanks!

Same thing happens to me a couple of times a month. I’ll find a stray quarter or two lying in the bottom of the cabinet. I’ve checked it out by buying a few washes with quarters and getting refunds for 5’s and 10’s. I can’t seem to make it duplicate the dropped quarter. I’ve never had a customer complain about being short changed.

My coin acceptor deposits the quarters on the far left side of the hopper. It may be that the deposited quarter may miss the hopper. I’ve watched customers put quarters in anywhere from gently to shoving them in as hard as they can.

chage not making to the coin cup

Had the same thing happen. The hopper is positioned away from the coin cup by a few inches. There is about 3/4 to 1 inch of space between the exit of the hopper to the beginning of the inside of the coin cup. The quarters are fed out of the hopper by gravity once they start the ride down the coin chute of the hopper. If there is a buildup of dirt / oils / dust / wet coins / etc. the quarter does not run down the chute at the same speed each time. That is when you end up finding the coin / coins on the inside of the machine. I ended up extending the inside of my coin cups to accommodate this. Once the coin runs down the hopper chute, it continues on to the coin cup extension into the coin cup.

How did you extend the chute?

TIA

Just call Randy and order the heavy coin cup guard. It extends that chute up to the hopper exit. I would suspect that the coins you are finding are jumping out of the coin chute above the coin acceptor. I can picture a customer pushing a coin from the top against the bottom of the coin slot with a decent amt. of pressure and squirting it into the machine like it was fired from a gun. Try covering that chute with tape and see if it stops.

Stainless coin cup cover Hamilton

Not only did I weld an extension onto the coin cup, I also welded two pieces of 90 degree stainless on top of the coin cup from the inside along with a stainless flipper door. The kit from Hamilton can get you started, but it still needs some modifications. Once you do all of this, the coins will have no other place to go but in the cup itself 100% of the time. This setup also protects the machine from someone "hooking" the front of the coin cup area, and ripping it out of the wall. When the flipper is pushed in and up, you cannot grasp the machine. Hamilton's kit does not fully protect the left side of the cup (standing in front of the machine). You can still hook the machine. Hamilton needs to modify their design. I ended up using part of the coin cup cover form Hamilton, the rest was done free hand. The result was an area about 5-7 times the thickness of a single quarter. The rest of the coin cup is covered in stainless from the inside. You need to protect the corners of the coin cup area. I have three different year machines. Some have the "oval" coin cup, while the others have the older "square" coin cup. The square coin cups have to be modified from scratch. You need four pieces to get the job done. Two 90 degree angle, one coin cup extension piece, and a stainless hinge from either Home Depot or Lowes.
