Quarters rolling through directly to the reject slot.

We must be doing something wrong because we don’t have half the problems everyone is bitching about. We can’t get a dollar coin into our Slugbuster II’s, the coin slot isn’t wide enough. We have very few coin jams. I wipe the coin acceptor out with a little silicone on a rag, it makes the coin path real slippery. If you try that be sure to not leave any residue inside the coin acceptor, you want to have a slippery film on the plastic. I do that with all my coin acceptors. Use a large paper spring clip to keep the door closed. We very seldom have any problems with the Slug buster III coin acceptors. There was a multi-coin coin acceptor here for a while from Italy that showed a lot of promise but it disappeared after about a year or so. We have more problems with our vending machine than with the bay coin acceptors.
They are the Dixmor, based on the pdf instructions, hopefully it goes easily.

I guess I am still in the minority and I use Secure coin acceptor. Rarely have a jamb and the whole coin path hinges open it you ever do get a jamb. Plus they make them in short or long drop. Accept quarters and dollar coin and you can program 3 additional coins.

I'll have to give them a try. I noticed last night one of my new Microcoin QL units will return a coin but still give the pulse if you drop them in fast enough. Is this the model you use?

Im like Randy, not many issues w/ pur Slugbuster llls. We have 13 SS bays, w/ lots of use. When they start goin bad, we send em to Dan Kamsikas, he fixes for about $50 & sends back. Good as new.

My hope is with the proper overall support ... coin mech manufacturers ... especially within the USA ... will tap into some top notch electronic engineers who will hopefully have the capability to improve on coin mech quality. So the Aussie Microcoin QL possibly will not continue to have the coin mech market somewhat cornered.

If some us think going with 100% cashless as a solution, that seems to be falling for too much "cyber dependency" IMHO.

I wish Microcoin made a short drop because our one Slugbuster III is going out of adjustment again. (accepting quarters as dollars)

OurTown,
Your wish is also on our specific "wish list" because of self service interactive equipment in my 50+ coin mech laundromat is much easier to modify-adapt with "short drops"!!! It seems like lobbying a foreign country's company (Australia) might be more difficult though ... not sure?!

Randy, we have the IDX-850 units and one is acting up. Same thing rolling right through. Do the Microcoin use the same metal bracket? Curious if it's a direct replacement. Thanks

I just checked an MA800 bracket and the Microcoin does not directly fit and the bracket would need modified. I assume the 850 bracket is the same but we don't have any of those to say for sure. The bracket has the same bolt pattern and form factor as a standard long drop to mount it to your meter box door.

You don't have to "lobby" a company. You just have to ask them to design and manufacture something. It doesn't matter if it's foreign or not. And I'm pretty sure most of us know that Australia is a foreign country, except maybe for JustClean.

Thanks for checking on that for me. Just got back from the wash and found the coin sensor was gummed up. Cleaned them out and works great. I also solved another issue as well. I've been noticed small chunks of orange plastic in my coin vaults. Not good for hoppers either. Was cleaning each IDX850 and noticed on the vertical orange plastic coin direction pieces was gone from inside. Good thing I bought a new Microcoin unit and will be here next week. Thanks, David

It's this that keeps the Microcoin from sitting in it properly. I didn't have time to mess with it last night, but I think grinding the screw flat will let the Microcoin fit, plus it will need the shoulder screws added to stay in properly.

I removed the screw and it still did not fit. Also the bracket has a solid side to it vs the Microcoin having a pass through open sided design. Unless you cut that out then you would not be able to clear jams. (IIRC that is the side I'm thinking of)
