Questions for those with a Washworld Profile

I plan on putting in a Profile to replace my Soft Gloss ( and to match my Razor) and had a couple of questions I need to figure out before I order. My distributer sent me this to think about and I wanted to get feedback here "
We put it on the first profile we did last year but found that we had a very hard time rinsing it off the vehicle with the Profile
machine as compared to a Razor mainly because Razor goes around the vehicle and is able to rinse more completely. We did not order triple foam for the most recent Profile that we just installed and instead used Foam N Flow like the rain style and are happier with it because of rinsing much easier."

Any thoughts on the TF on the Profile and rinsing issues?

2nd, anyone here have Spectra Ray on their machine? I opted out of it on the Razor and put 2 long light bars on the walls which works great, but wondered if I would get the same effect on the Profile since it would have actual brushes on the side that might obstruct the view. Spectra Ray + is an extra $4500 so that's out, but I need to decide between the original Spectra Ray or using TSS light bars.

Two things:

1. Don’t know anything about the Profile but I give credit to your distributor for being upfront and honest about what he is seeing, rather than just loading up the machine with options and then having you have to work around some issues. They don’t all do that.

2. Triple foam can probably be done without. When it came out in the 80’s/90’s or whatever, it was the newest extra option up sell and was reserved for the top packages. Now, there is so much lights, colors, lavas, waxes, foams, foaming walls/waves etc., a traditional application of triple foam can probably be done without in terms of function and show. Especially if you are getting a new machine. The customers will have never had it on that specific machine and probably won’t miss it. I’m sure you’ll have plenty of “show” and results to justify whatever you are pricing your wash packages at.

I definitely appreciate him being up front about it instead of just trying to sell me the option. Would be mentally hard not having TF on an IBA lol after all these years. I wouldn't miss the 3 less barrels in the ER though.

Yes, I'll chime in. We put in a Profile-Max in 2018 and loaded it with everything -- Foam and Flow and Triple Foam. Yes, we occaisionally have customers complain that the foam is not rinsing totally off their vehicles. It happens only occaisionally and does not appear to be a continuous problem. The customers LOVE the triple foam. It is only offered on our top wash, The King Cheetah ($13), and 65%-70% of customers buy that one. Our ChemQuest Triple Foam products smell like berries and they also provide a bit of polish, unlike many other TF products that are just color and smell. Sometimes Mother Nature affects the rinse cycle -- if there's a wind at all, it will blow through the wash bay and separate the rinse as it comes down on the vehicle, and the vehicle will not be rinsed completely. If we get several complaints at one time about the foam not being rinsed well, we get our distributor down here and they check it out and adjust it. I'm not a mechanic, and leave it up to them because we have a maintenance contract with them. Hope this helps.

No, we don't have any of those fancy lights. Also, I was just chatting with one of the WW techs who's at our wash installing new hoses and asked him about problems with the rinse system. He mentioned a couple of other things I didn't put in my last note: 1) Some of it might also have to do with the actual configuration of the vehicle -- I know my Cadillac XT5, due to the "visor" that sticks out from the back of the roof, will sometimes keep foam from rinsing off, which is a common problem with alot of these SUV's and Crossovers; 2) after the TF application, there's a Sealant application that comes out of the Foam&Flow followed by another rinse and the RO Spot-Free Rinse, and sometimes that's where the Sealant sometimes stays on. The Rinse can be made to go "slower" to get a more thorough rinse if you are having a problem, or maybe turn up the pressure on the rinse before the Spot-Free.

Yes, we have it and it is offered in the middle and top washes. Customers use it alot -- we're in a South Texas rural community -- many farms, ranches, oilfield, construction, hunters -- lots of dirty pick-ups. It does a great job, but you need to make sure you're using a real good strong alkaline cleaner. We use ChemQuest Select 35. But be advised there will be some maintenance involved -- high-pressure hoses, bearings, spinners, etc. due to the constant wear and tear. We also have the Power Tower and Undercarriage wash, which I can't recommend highly enough! It blasts off alot of the road grime before the vehicle even gets into the wash position. We plan to add another bay and install a Razor next year, and will have the Power Tower with it also, as well as the Foam&Flow and TF. Will offer the same pkgs. as we have with the Profile-Max with same pricing just to eliminate customer confusion.

Really appreciate all of the information. I have the Power Tower on the Razor and it does a great job. Another reason for this upgrade is to keep everything consistent among the two washes.

Why don't you put TF toward the front, & use it as a lubricant. You already have F&F & a,Sealant, so your TF is a 3rd similar product, & thus just redundant. Put it on early & seems problem solved + xtra lubricant, which is better longterm for the brushes.

By the way, even though triple foam is old school, getting lava to sheet consistently is a royal PITA on a lot of equipment. I know on my machine you can get it sheeting good then come back in two days and it's not sheeting good anymore. Plus it's very vulnerable to wind. Using Expensive premium products sealants (carnuba or "ceramic" products) in this application cost quite a bit and results in an uneven application to the car's surface. I would only use lava for a shampoo or the older traditional sealants.

I'm using Warsaw Chemicals Wave Shield. It's Formula 704. Says Hot Carnauba Shine on it.
