I recently went through three different Wesumats to evaluate the washes for a prospective buyer. All three of these are owned by the same person, who has a well deserved reputation for poor maintenance. So I expected some issues. There were a couple of things though that seemed to not be maintenance related. The top brush had a hard time reaching the far right and left sides of the windshield. The washes always left noticeable spots due to poor rinsing. And they bent my antenna forward about a 30 degree angle. What do you owners find? If you have seen these issues and corrected them, how did you do that? The next day I went through a Broadway friction machine (you see them at car dealerships mostly) and got a surprisingly good quality wash from a machine costing half of the Wesumat.

I have had a Wesumat for over 3 years and I am still trying to work out the bugs.
I added air to the soap so that I could get some foaming action on the soap. This caused a problem with the rinse since it essentially sucks. So I added a rain bar which works well.
The triple foam never worked well until I created an arch to go over the entire vehicle.
The service from Mark VII is non-existent unless you go through a distributor.
Just some of the problems I have had...

There's got to be more owners out there. I was guessing that this group I tested would be an anomoly since they were installed by people who barely knew down from up. Anyone else have these or use them on a regular basis?

I have one. It is about 4 years old.
Apparently they don't use foaming products as much in Europe so rinsing is easier. It is important to use a product that rinses easily. The friction should help break down the foam.
The top brush should reach the whole width, is it possible that the brush was worn or had sections missing from the end?

Did the brushes bend the antenna or does it have a contouring dryer? The brushes should be light enough on the vehicle not to bend antennas, the contouring dryer has a "pillow" to feel the antenna and move up over it. That needs frequent adjustment (3-4 times per year) If it was a power antenna, forget it, friction bends them, no way around it.

You are welcome to contact me directly if you want to talk more about the Wesumat.

I'm sure you have read the previous posts about the Wesumat. I have been servicing one for about 4 years. The main issues are parts and service. Service is an issue because distributors come and go, and there are not that many whom are familiar with the Wesumat, at least not that I have found. The newest one doesn't know much about the Wesumat, but sure is happy to charge 4 times retail for the parts. Parts are very proprietary and cannot be found in catalogs. I cannot even find basic fittings, etc. The plc control system is fairly complex. The contouring dryer does a nice job. The antenna really gets whipped during the wash and dry. The top brush wears out badly where the antenna hits it. I now keep my antenna on my service truck finger tight so I can take it off. A lot of parts are plastics and they just don't seem to be holding up to the wear and tear. None of the product delivery nozzles are impressive, but who cares, right? The friction cleans the car.
I am impressed with the plc and control system. It does a good job of telling you what is wrong when there is a problem. Wesumat's control system is one of the better engineered systems that I have seen.

I would not go so far as to say that it is a piece of crap. I rarely have to go work on it, and the owner likes it. However, I would not recommend this unit.
