R O flush

Can somebody explain to me exactly how the ro flush works. I just got to the wash and my waste water is overflowing on to the floor (I feed my waste water into my ss holding tank). Is this a normal "flushing procedure or do I have an issue?

The flush just rinses the membrane with as little pressure as possible. The full capacity of the pump gets dumped down the drain (or on the floor). You may be able to adjust the flush time to a minimum, like 5 minutes a day, to minimize waste. You can also add a tank to capture the reject so nothing gets wasted at all.

That's really good to know. I guess I never noticed it before when it wasn't going into the resevoir. It's not a good feeling when you walk in and water is pouring all over the floor! Thanks!

BTW, there are many RO systems that don't have a fst flush and seem to work as well as those that do. And the membranes last the same time. Just my opinion, but if you have regular city water, eliminate the fast flush. I have gone to several sites with the Gin San Ro systems that have that feature and removed two buckets of parts and hoses and they work fine.
