Raised Prices Today

Today we went to $3 start for 4 minutes. 20 seconds per pulse/25 cents per pulse.

The increase was long overdue.

Looking forward to increased revenue!:o

I just bought my second wash, it's located in a town of about 5500 people directly in front of a rather large hospital and shares a parking lot with a busy gas station. We are 6 self serve bays and will be installing a Wash World IBA. The previous owners pretty much ran the place in to the ground... after rehab I am planning to raise my price by 50 cents to 2.00 for 4 minutes. There is only one other wash in town, he is still at 1.50 but I feel the reinvestment in the wash i'm making along with location, is a risk worth taking. Although not every customer will realize or appreciate this, the value per quarter doesn't change.

What's the advantage of keeps the value per quarter the same? It's ok to be in business to make money.

Chaz: Valid point. I suppose my approach was to simply 'force' people to buy more time, even if it's just an extra 50 cents. How would you suggest I increase my price from 25 cents per 30 seconds?

Just raise the price and don't look back. A year ago I raised my price on s/s. I was for 7 years 2$ for 4 minutes. My wash is among the highest prices in town, I don't really worry about the other guy. I just keep the place nice, just repainted, equipment always in working order and repairs made quickly. If there's an issue I take care of refunds etc quickly. I am now at 3$ for 4 minutes. My only regret, not having made the change sooner. I also have fewer people leaving a mess cause they go to the cheaper guy. I quite frankly am just fine making more money, even if I wash fewer cars and have less wear and tear on my facility. Good luck,

Chaz, just out of curiosity, aside from the other SS competition in your area, do you have any $3 auto washes in the area?

I'm like the utility company. I sell water, gas and electric. Not sure about you guys, but I know my utility bills have risen on a somewhat regular basis.

i just used a sign shop; they made me some decals out of heavy vinyl and i got a few spares: $3 to start. 3 tokens or 12 quarters
