Rebuild Grinder Pump?

Has anyone rebuilt a grinder pump in a sewer lift station?

One of mine may be going bad (there are 2 that run opposite each other in my lift station) and the prices new are ridiculous.

Having worked on the carwash pu,ps etc I can't imagine rebuilding a simple pump like this is any big deal.

Is a grinder pump overkill? I just use a sewage pump.

It lasts about five years before it needs to be replaced. I bought a cheap Harbor Freight pump to try next time it goes out.

Here a couple of water/sewer dept. employees have a side business of repairing lift stations. Last time I had a pump fail it was $900 for a rebuilt pump installed. I questioned the rebuilt pump and our sewer dept. always uses the rebuilt pumps.

I’d see who your sewer dept. recommends.
