Can anyone tell me where to get these besides from a local company. They have gone up to 516.00 in the last year from 392.00. I would think that they would last longer than 2 years.
Thanks

Ouch, I just used my spare and was planning to order one to put on the shelf. Hopefully someone knows of another source.

We are probably experiencing about a 2 year lifespan as well. I would have to check but I believe I have replaced 3 in 5 years on our machine.

You may want to check with Belanger, I had old Sonars that I hated to throw away. They did offer a service to test and replace with new ends on the sonar. They had told me they had found the sonars were not actually bad, but the ends were.

The tell tale sign I found was whether the sonar housing actually cracked. They did rebuild some of the sonars and I got some additional life from them.

Hope this helps save a little hard earned Money.

You can't get them from anyone but Belanger or a distributor. There is firmware installed into them that is proprietary.

I've thrown away at least two "bad" ones - I wish I'd known they repair them.

The sonar connection gets corroded and that causes the sonar failure. Usually the sonar is fine just the connection is bad. On the older sonars this connection was aluminum. Belanger has a kit to replace the aluminum connection plug with a stainless steel plug Part No.105844 - SONAR SS CONNECTOR KIT - $39.08.

I have been removing the connection plug on the sonar and installing a plastic cord grip and splicing the yellow cable in the sonar case using small wire nuts and fill the nuts with dielectric grease. I have had zero sonar failures after doing this repair on about 6 or 7 machines starting about 4 years ago.

That price is a little stiff too, here is the current price for the front/back sonar. The side sonar is the same price.

1ELECT-SN935 - SONAR-FRNT/BCK AFT 12/01 - $412.34

Feel free to contact me anytime. I would like to learn who quoted you $516.00

It was my local dist. in Houston for Belanger that sold it to me at that price.
From now on I will try all of these suggestions.
Thanks

Someone told me that Belanger repairs them, but only mentioned the corroded screw-on wire connector which they replace with stainless steel. It wouldn't hurt to contact them.

can the red sonars be repaired?
They can be repaired exactly the same as the black sonars. Either use the connector repair kit from Belanger (Part No. 105844 SONAR SS CONNECTOR KIT $39.08) or you can replace the micro connector on the sonar case with a cord grip and use wire nuts filled with dielectric grease to splice the yellow cable under the sonars cover. This works most of the time.

can the red sonars be repaired?
There is a possibility that they can be prepared, of course depending upon what the source of the problem is. In any event, the sonar would need to be returned to the factory where if the repair is cost justified, it needs to be recalibrated. Due to this, replacement remains your best bet.

Sorry to pump this old old topic.
I called Belanger but they don't sell/repair anymore but through distributors. One company quoted me for $850 and other one quoted for $600. ASCWS won't sell out of state (I'm in TX) and I don't know why they wouldn't. Anyways, if anyone could help me out getting one of this sonar in $400-$500 range that would be really great!
Thank you in advance!!

Hey Mep,
Yes. Any chance you have one laying around? Or are you distributor for Belanger?

I don't have any Belanger parts. I used to work for a distributor in Austin that went out of business in 2019.

Argh, tough luck for me lol. Well, sonar still works but sometimes it does not detect the car correctly. Say, out of 50 cars, there are like 2 3 car it doesn't do right.

Just buy one, all I’ve known so far is a vector and I’ve gone through an engineer friend of mine who knows any part I throw at him and it’s manufacturers. He’s gone as far as calling and it’s proprietary. If you find a better way than to get your lips ripped off by a rep. Let me know 😬.

What’s the part number on the sonar you are looking for?
