This might be a dumb question but how about just changing the motors to larger sizes and keeping the 2 motor setup?
I would think that any adjustments that you would have to make would be cheaper.

I don't know that I would notice enough of a difference.

IMO...I think I would have better luck with the marketing aspect of it if I were to offer three motors.

Bubbles,

We used to have a 3 motor Monorail Vacuum. We paid extra for it to have the 3 motors. We traded it in to our Specialty Equip car wash saleman for a 4 bag Doyle & never looked back. Maybe they have improved on the newer versions of 3 motor vacs but we know for a fact that just taking better care of the 2 motor vacs is more important than the extra motor. By better care I mean keeping the bags replaced & washed & seals in good shape has more of a bearing than the 3rd motor. The Doyle 2 motor vacuums that we use have 4 bags. I am not sure if some of the brands still have only 2 or 3 bags but if I remember right that is also a factor for better flow & suction. Randy makes a good point about the potential CFM limitations of the 2 inch hose. Unless it is clear to the customer he or she is getting an improved vacuum experience & not just hype---it could allow you to lose some long term credibility. If there is too much lift, there are some car carpets that will come unraveled which could scare a percentage of people away.

I just got a compliment today about how well our vacuums work. The more I think about it, I am not sure that people would even notice to be honest with you. It's like when we run a special...I get the "I didn't know you guys did that!"

One of my competitors just raised his prices, so I am going to see what kind of rabbit he pulls out of his hat. We'll see....

I'd still recommend trying a couple of the Domel motors. If you or your customers can tell a difference, replace them all and advertise improved vacs.

I switched out bags from the thick ones they originally had, the kind you have to pull up through the lower cleanout door and tighten with wing nuts under the dome, to the newer Adams style that has a spring steel ring at the bottom that just snaps into the opening. They are a thinner material but seem to filter just as well, and without the fuzz on the inside the dirt just falls back into the bottom when it shuts off. They are much easier to replace (I installed clips in the top, and the bags don't have to be tight to seal), and they don't need to be removed and washed nearly as often. I only wash them if they've gotten wet, which is very rare.
