Is everyday a repair day?
I ran a new wire for a heater I’m installing in my IBA
I get down out of the attic and my brother stops by and we’re talking about NCAA Tournament and guy pulls up in bay 2 of self serve and yells over Is it not working? I go over and no power on bay meter??
So I go in and there is a fuse blown, put one in and it blows it immediately?? I try another same thing. I unhook timer try again and it blows again?? I unhook cryptopay try again and it blows another. I unhook power at bay meter and have 24v does not blow fuse. So I’m stumped all wiring looks ok a little messy but nothing seems to be grounded? So there is a heat strip inside the bay meter not even sure if it works been there for over 25 yrs I unhook it and that was the problem. I guess went bad and grounded out. Got lucky
Everyday seems to turn into a repair day. If it’s not something going wrong it’s a customer tearing up something.

Yes, I agree it's always something... :sneaky: I read a recent quote that "when you buy a car wash, it's not just a business but a way of life!" :ROFLMAO: After doing this 21 years I have to agree. I'm a very active hands-on Operator and run my business seriously.

I took a rare "half a saturday" off yesterday. I stay on top of my maintenance, so I thought " no problem".

Got a call from my attendant that afternoon; half the power out at wash and detail shop. It's happened before; bad transformer on a pole causes a "partial power loss".

Everything powered up fine after, except the touchfree. No hi pressure no lp chems. Spent the afternoon aggravated instead of relaxed.

Came in 7am today ( Easter). Found tripped circuits on both.

I just love going to the car wash on a beautiful Easter Sunday morning to fix the foam brush system when I got a houseful of relatives coming over for brunch. I almost didn't go but decided I'd better go since it is a beautiful day, the car wash was slammed. It never ends!!

Wow, I wish running a car wash was as simple as cleaning and repairing! 😜 My SS car wash is open 24 hours and located on a very busy corner. I've owned it for 21 years now, and it's busier than ever! I have 2 employees who help me clean and handle minor repairs.

This is my assessment of my job: When I'm home, I'm researching improvements, ordering supplies, handling advertising/marketing, answering the car wash hotline, doing bookkeeping, and monitoring 31 video cameras.

When I'm on-site 5 days a week (average 20-24 hours/week), I'm making change, answering customer's questions and educating them on how to use cash/credit cards/tokens/payment app to wash & vacuum (selling customer service), directing traffic flow, replacing decals, stolen hoses or damaged building trim, confronting bad behavior, filing police reports, etc. Like Randy says "it never ends!" 😫
