replacement nozzles for old school in bay automatic

My brother-in-law and I purchased a carwash in our small hometown. It has 3 self serve bays and 1 IBA that is original equipment, so its 26 years old. The IBA is a low volume unit, and I'm really not even sure what brand it is. It has an L-shaped boom that runs on a trolley. It's been rebuilt over time, and still functions rather well. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that a laserwash or PDQ does, but it currently meets our needs. We've decided to keep it in service for a few more years and then probably upgrade.

Anyway, on to my question. The nozzles on the IBA need to upgraded. Currently, there is a combination of 1/8" 2505 and 1/8" 4005 nozzles on the boom. The undercarriage nozzles are 1/4" 40 degree nozzles. Just watching the wash run through a cycle it appears that the 4005 nozzles would be the best spray pattern versus the 2505. This is all pretty new to me, so any advice would be appreciated by this newbie.

Welcome to the form buddy. First you got to find out some more info about your automatic. What brand/manufacter even take a picture and post it if you can't find it. See what kind of pump you have in that thing, example a cat, general pump, we get that model off the pump then we can match up your tip size according to the GPM it pumps to make sure its set up right. We all normally as a industry change tips once a year to reduce water and costs. Let us get some more Information and we can help you. One more questions why are you changing the tips are they messed up wore out or you want a different spray pattern. Thomas.

Thanks for the reply. Most of the nozzles are pretty scaly, and the pattern is not very consistent. The undercarriage nozzles show quite a bit of wear too. I will get some info on the IBA at noon and get back to you. Thanks again.

Thomas, I'm scratching my head, because I can not locate any labeling that tells me the make/model/brand of my automatic. I did talk to the original owner who built the wash and he said that it was manufactured by 'a guy' from Iowa. That's all he really knew. He wasn't much help. It's been 10 years since he owned it, and he was not actively involved in the day to day operation of it. I've attached a few pics of the unit. The Pump is a 'Giant' Brand pump, possibly a PUL123 ran by 20HP Baldor Motor . I couldn't locate and ID tag on the pump. Everything is controlled by a Toshiba EX40 programmable controller. Any help is appreciated.

It doesn't look like something from MW. Years ago in the 80's I saw something like this in either Iowa or Indiana. As I remember (I have slept since then) it was built by some guy in Iowa that made them one at a time that stopped making them a long time ago. Don't think he sold very many but at that time there wasn't much on the market beside Ryko or Mark VII. PDQ was just starting to hit the market.

If all you need is nozzles you can get them from Kleen Rite or Spraying Systems.

Just stopped by a SuperWash Supermatic and they had 1/8" 2508 IMEGS on the top and side arm and 1/4" 4008 MEGS for the undercarriage.

A 4005 is wider spray than a 2505 but uses the same water, so it's basically spreading the same cleaning power across a larger area. So if the 2505 tips are not so narrow that it's leaving dirty stripes, 4005 will not clean as well.
