i just got back from one of my washes and found that someone tried to drill out all 8 of my medico bay locks. luckily they did not get in and my keys are still working.

Should I replace them with medico locks or the disc type that my Etowah Valley boxes use?

I don't think I would mess with success. The Medico locks kept the thieves out once, they'll probably do it again.

Does the medeco have a slotted disc in front of the key hole to help prevent drilling? Do you have any other kind of lock in front of the medeco giving you layered lock protection?

Soapy, I'm talking about the cam locks for the meter doors not the coin box. Is there a disc that can be out in front of a cam lock? And NO there is no "first line of defense" layered lock like I have on some of my coin boxes.

I think this was just some hack that probably lost $1.00 in a bay and had a battery drill that didn't have enough power to really get anywhere, except to really **** me off!!!!

On my meter doors I have installed a large slide bar that goes in front of the cam locks on the meter doors. Then I use a large big boy abus lock to keep the bar in place similar to what you see on many Vacs. I also use one of the large lock shackle covers on the big boy disc lock. I have one location that still uses the medeco lock on the meter doors but they do not have the key slot cover like the Etowah valley locks. This key slot cover spins if someone tries to drill into the lock itself. I have also found that the shackle covers you get for the disc locks vary. The ones from Kleenrite have too large of slot and can allow bolt cutters to still cut the shackle. I have found the shackle covers from dultmieir have a narrower slot and bolt cutters won't work on them.
