Successful revenue increases from FaceBook, bonus time, discounted tokens, discount codes on receipts from ACW, discount codes for teachers, city employees etc. We are considering many of the above, I would like to see what is or are successful for the operators and what is not. Thanks!
 
During the panel discussions at the NRCC show. social media was credited with an increase in revenue. If you go this route, you must keep up with it. The Internet is instant and dated material makes you look foolish. Most suggested having someone handle this for you, for free car washes or money.
 
I have had really good luck with high security $1 Tokens -Just started a couple of months ago. It has increased business with a Bonus token with $10 Bill.
I wish i had done this from day one. I have 5 washes-- the first 12K tokens just seemed to disappear out of the changers, I bought another 10K. It now seems like a no-brainer..

Whale, could you elaborate on this. Are you giving change in Tokens and now give 11 tokens for $10 or are you giving change plus a token?
 
I think he's giving all tokens in his changer like me. I recently began giving 11 for a $10 and 22 for $20.

Customers notice and use larger bills now, which is nice.
 
100% tokens. I would like to give more incentive for a 20 but The POS Rowe 1400--uses the $10 bucket twice for a $20. The $1 tokens have made the customers much more generous in their dropping coins in. It was way too many quarters to wash a vehicle. And now instead of a quarter they drop a $1 token in. I let them bring their own quarters still -It would be a real mistake to drop that as sometimes they just save the spare change for washing.
 
A guy in my market area who I am friends with swears by tokens and these types of promotions. I always am interested in his reasons and his success stories but I can't seem to bring myself to ****ing off all my regulars because I know that customers just don't like tokens. I have a successful wash and feel that any grumblings that might come from the switching over might not be worth it. I try to go to my old motto that rule #1 is "the customer is always right" and rule #2 "when they are wrong, refer back to rule #1" Maybe I'm leaving gobs of cash on the table because of this.
 
Buzz, IMO you are putting too much faith that your customers will be upset about token. When we changed the few that even mentioned it, I explained that the vandalism would be reduced and that would save them moeny down the road. They agreed and that was it.
 
Buzzie- I had your same thoughts 6 mo ago. My loyal customers absolutely love it because they get a discount. Your best customers will be better customers, as the tokens will keep them coming back to you the next time. I wish i had done this 20yrs ago. Alot of Money lost !!!!!!!
If you don't believe me get some high security $1 tokens for bay washing, you will like using them. Then just try them in the changer for a day and put a small sign up. I only used to keep around $600 in the changer, but now have the option of $2K with the tokens--Another plus!! Hope to seen you at the Kleen rite get together next week!!

I like discounting tokens, a receipt header with a code that will give the customer $1 or $2 off on their next auto wash, special pricing days for the automatic, and FB to tie it all together. Some stand alone washes are offering discounts if you buy a wash from the gas station accross the street or partnering with a convience store for $.15 or $.20 off per gallon. Of course this will require some pricey software. FaceBook is very popular and if done right, as Bill suggested, will increase revenue.
