I have a Rowe BC-1400 that is only drawing from one of the 2 hoppers. Advice on how to begin troubleshooting and/or common failures on these?

Other wise it runs fine....

The other hopper is just dirty. Take the hopper out that is not working, lean it over and turn the spindle manually. The quarters should travel up the snake path and fall out of the hole at the top. I bet that they are making it half way up and falling back down. You likely have dirt on the coin path. I am usually able to clean it out by just using a long flat screwdriver and scraping the edge of the path. Use a flashlight and you should be able to see the issue. Probably a small mound of debris on the track. Good luck.

I agree with Slash. I'd add that it's easier to just empty it - you might find quarter wrappers, a nickel/dime/penny, or just some dirt. Spin it for a few cycles of the track. While you're at it you might as well blow it out with some compressed air and lubricate the chain and pivot points. Use a graphite spray or other dry lube so that it doesn't collect dirt.

Went down there and pulled the hopper, dumped all the quarters, and function checked the mechanisms. All seemed fine. No debris ( that I saw come out ) and I re-filled it and put it back in. I switched it with the other to see what happens.

Thanks

I wouldn't use a sharp metal tool to scrape the coin path unless all the green coating is already worn away. The coating helps keep crud from sticking in the path, and it's soft like Teflon in cookware.
