I have a rowe changer that seems to be taking longer than usual to refill after dispensing coins. When change is dispensed you can hear it running for several seconds afterwards. Both hoppers half to 3/4 full so it isn't for lack of change and both hoppers are firmly in place. Yesterday it even faulted out on a hopper empty fault when the hopper was over half full. Any ideas on what to check for?

Tip the hoppers out and shake the quarters around. They are probably kinda jammed up in the bottom.

You should have a stiff bristled wire brush that came with the changer to clean the tracks that follow the chain. If that doesn't remedy the problem, get out your manual. It will provide details on dismantling the hopper so that you can thoroughly clean it. Be patient the first time and follow the directions precisely.

what Jim said. A quarter can fall down into the motor assembly and jam up the little motor shaft. You have to remove the hoppers, then remove the hopper mounting plate. Look carefully at the motors.
Your changer is set to take an equal number of quarters from each hopper to refill the dump bucket. It will try for a short time, but if no quarters come out of one of the hoppers, then it will go back to the hopper that is working and finish filling the dump bucket.
I don't know how a loose quarter can fall and get into that tiny motor housing, but it happens a lot.
