I'm getting error code 33 ( not in home position ), the unit is at home. Also the arm will not manually rotate forward, it will go in reverse. The trolley will go forward and reverse and arch will go left and right. I have checked the sensors and they are all lighting up when in home position. Please any help appreciated. Mike

I always mark the lights on the plc computer with a black marker that should be on when everything is working correct and it is waiting for a wash. That way you can see what sensor is on or off that should not be. You could have a bad boom wire that is not getting the signal to plc. DO you have your input and output lights marked?

Mike, do you have a hand-held programming console? What program is installed? To determine the program, look at the PLC of the machine. Near the bottom, you should see a cover that you can remove where the EEPROM chip is installed. For an OHD, the first 5 digits of the program number will be either 23953 or 26234. The program will help me to identify which version of OHD you are running.
If you can't find the program number, if you can provide the serial number, that will help me to know exactly what you have as well to assist.

If you can drive the gantry forward and reverse on the tracks, and you can drive the trolley left and right, this indicates the forward/reverse direction relays should be working properly. It should be able to rotate forward and reverse as well if the other movements are working.

If you have a hand-held programming console and know how to use it, there are two data registers that you need to look at. M8044 will turn on if all the proximity switches are in their correct state when the machine is supposed to be at home. M141 looks at the state of M8044 and a few other items such as VFD fault signals, reclaim faults and others that can cause a "not at home" code. Most likely, you will find M8044 is not on due to a prox being in the wrong state. If you don't have an HPP, we'll need to look at inputs to determine what is going on.

If anyone else experience this on a US2001 OHD that has the trolley mounted side sensors, here are the inputs that need to be on with the machine in home position:

With the arm on the right side of the machine and directed like it would spray the right side of the car, you should see:
X41 and X42 ON. (this is right rear and right front for the arm).
X50 should be ON (this is the arm tilt prox input)
X44 should be ON (this is the trolley position prox to tell the arm is fully to one side)
X51 should be ON (this is the front endstop prox)

X40 and X43 should NOT be on.

As we worked through this one, the machine had a problem with the tilt prox and is now resolved.

I do what Soapy Does (my iba is side trac). I mark the output card inside my gantry, indicating what led's should be lit on that card to start a wash. when a fault occurs I can see if all the leds that should be on are on. likewise if a wash won't start; are all led's that should be lit actually lit? are any flickering or dim?

The problem has been resolved, but I agree that marking the inputs that should be on with the machine at home position makes it easier to diagnose a problem like this.

Just happened to mine, code 33 but was not the arm tilt.. Unfortunately didnt fnd this thread till today. Would have savee some time.

x40 prox sensor had a short and was stuck on causing the PC to not understand where the arm was. Luckily had one spare left. Back in business.

Waxman, you mentioned flickering.. I have x 5 flickering like crazy. Rear ultrasonic. Is this a wiring problem or poor ground?

The output signals from the ultrasonics is not a steady state, so it's normal if you are watching the input on the PLC for the LED to flicker. If you are having issues where it's not properly locating the rear of the vehicle, you would need to monitor D25, and ensure the value falls within how the min/max floor values have been setup. These data registers for min/max vary depending on program installed.

OK, its weird that its only x5 that flickers... Yes over running the back is an ongoing problem. Typically it only occurs on the third round. Ryko techs have replaced US a couple times but the issue persists.

I have monitored and it doesn't fall out of range. The rear US however were installed without spacers and attached with zip ties. I think I need to recalibrate all the US settings for distance. And probably add the spacers on the rear US...

Floor has been cleaned, all that's there is a bit of a worn spot from hose drain and the undercarriage hose.

It also will not wash a corvette anymore for the last 3 years, I assume due to the US reflecting off the glass or rear end.. It does 1 1/2 presoaks, but then drives into emergency rinse at drivers rear corner on second pass.

I was gone for 5 years, and I'm trying to get all this straighten out now.

Rear floor, after a busy Sunday, typically the back sits in this zone. The floor drain is under the vehicle when it occurs.

Maybe trim that hose shorter has been a thought. Or its just all the water that builds up at the back of the drain.

Airswitch for activating fixed undercar. They could use either an airswitch or photoeye.

Why would they have the hose after the Undercarriage? makes more sense to have it before as the customer is driving in.

There is one right before, out of pic, and after the uc. Turns on when they go over the first. Shuts off after 4 pulses when the back tire goes over that one you see behind the uc.

An update to my current issues.. The cog pulleys for the belts are worn to points, this I did see at the last idler and wheel replacement... and it is on the list of repairs... But because this is likely the cause of the overun on the hp pass. They will be moved up to immediate need level in the budget.

Photo eye was originally installed. We had some issues with it so went to air switch. I wasn't here at that time. But we have remnants of the photo eyes In the bay. It may be something I can look at hooking up for better control, I'll have to see why we unhooked them. Possibly replacement costs. I don't know we run the wash in sub zero weather so fog may have screwed with them.
Thanks.

I just got done working on this problem Code 33

Gantry was at home
Arm was at home
All inputs except X50 were lit, but the tilt prox was lit on machine so I replaced it with a spare I had still no change.
thinking it was a short in the boom cable I took the cover off to check the wires in the JO box all looked well but 1 shield wire had come undone from 2 others attached to it and was resting on some other wires I reattached it and boom my CMD came back on the code 33 went away so I ran a test wash all was well. when these wires were installed organization wasn't the installers strong point and I'm having to disassemble and reorganize whenever a problem arises. :(

When I have had trouble with US not reading well on a floor, I take a large piece of aluminum plate and anchor it onto the floor in the midddle of the bay. It helps the US find the front and rear of the car better. The other day I was testing my trifoam in the front of the bay. I forgot to rinse it off the floor and the next customers car could not be read by the US just because of the foam on the floor.
