I’m having a problem with my in bay automatic. It gives me permission to wash. I pull up the buzzer goes off. The spray starts but the machine doesn’t move forward. Then it shuts off. When I try to activate the moving switch it will move a couple of inches then stop. Like something is in the track. But nothing is in the tracks. Rollers are good. Has anyone had this problem? I know it’s and old machine. But still washes good.

On a Softgloss, the machine is at home position when it is at the exit end of the bay with the machine almost touching the endstop bumpers. If the machine is older, you probably have the physical bayplates. After the machine is armed and a vehicle pulls in and onto the bayplates, that should cause the buzzer to sound. After 2 seconds, the machine should try to move reverse at that point (not forward). If not, it is probably generating a diagnostics code, and that would be really helpful. If when you try to manually move the machine is only goes a couple inches and stops, that sounds like you may have an endstop prox that is "ON" that it isn't expecting. I would recommend you look at the label inside the control panel for the front endstop (X7), a rear endstop (X8), or more likely it could be a wheel scrub retract prox (X43 for right, or X44 for left). If the machine is completely at the front, X7 "should" be "ON", but the others should not be. If those don't work, what codes are you seeing?

On the wall, you should have a gray box called a Remote Communications Interface. It's about 10x12". The older machines had one with a small window that houses a red 2 digit LED display inside. On the newer machines, these Remote Comm boxes have a touchscreen display.

For the older style, you would need what is called an HPP which is a handheld console. Very few owners/operators will have those, and you would likely need assistance from a technician. If you have the newer style with a touchscreen controller, you should have a button called "Information Screen", and from there, a "Diagnostics History". If you can send that to me through PM, I can take a look and figure out what is happening.

The 2 digit code 14 indicates there is an issue with either the front or rear endstop as I had mentioned above. I suspect that one of them is likely shorting out where the input is coming on where it shouldn't. I would drive the machine away from the end of the track, then have someone look at the inputs on the PLC for X7 and X8 and see if either of them are blinking on/off while you move the machine. If it does, whichever is blinking is shorting out. You may also want to look at the end of the proximity switch to see if it's been scraped at all indicating that something may have contacted it. That can also cause them to short.

I finally got a chance to check and look at my machine. Seems like a bearing on the track motor is bad. I’m gonna take it off within the next few days and go from there. I hope that’s the problem.
thank you for all your help so for!!

I took the motor off and it was a bad bearing and the shaft on the motor broke off.
