Does anybody know what gearbox Ryko uses for their Softgloss machine. Apparently it is made by Electra-Gear by the stamping on the case, but I cannot find any other numbers. I would like to by parts to rebuild these rather than buy the whole thing. Thanks in advance.

As someone who has rebuilt many gearboxes, good luck. The box manufacturers price the replacement parts such that in most cases it's not cost effective to rebuild them. If you can find an Electra Gear dealer you may be able to get the whole box, but you have to be a little clever. All manufacturers order an off the shelf box and then have something specked out that makes it unique to them. Sometimes it's something simple like a special seal, in which case the regular box will work.

Which gearbox? I have a front arm gearbox still in the box at the wash (I'm not there now) that I can maybe get info from. Can't remember if I ordered from Ryko or Astromatic but I think Ryko.

Some of Ryko's parts are a standard factory part, but with their name stamped on it and possibly a different paint job. If you are lucky enough to find them they can easily be less than half price. In other situations a totally different part will do the job as well if not better.

Actually, I think the gearboxes are all the same, you just switch the shafts around for right or left hand. Yes, if there are any other names or numbers on it other than Ryko's, that would help.

My packing slip says "reducer/25:1, 56c, l-4" for left r-3 for the right if that helps. Pretty sure that you are right about electa-gear.

We replace seals when they go out, other wise we just replace the whole thing.
