Hi everyone, this is my first post on this forum, Im shortly to open my almost built 5&1 +dog wash, here in Australia. An existing operator in my town seems to be having good results selling R/O water in large bottles as drinking water(20 litres ,I think thats about 4.5 gallon in U.S talk)I think he rents them the water dispenser then they buy the bottles and continually bring them back for refill at about $4.50AU A pop. Have any of you seen this in the U.S . Thanks Glenn

In the U.S., the vending industry is in the business of selling water produced from RO. For example, a small free-standing water (and ice) vending machine placed in the parking lot of an anchored shopping center or plaza.

Very popular here. Sales depend on location and competition. I know a guy who has one at all four washes and the lowest in sales is $1200/mth.

Machines go from $4k range for an in-wall unit, to $6k+ for a stand alone pop machine style. I am also told that a bottle washer option is a good.

Thanks Guys, I will look further into this, the fellow in my area simply has his attendant re fill them in the plant room direct from the R/O Thanks Glenn

glenn, in this country you have to treat the RO water with a UV light to kill the germs. At least in Florida. Still a good idea. Go for it.
