My 51 selection Shurvend is d.o.a. this Friday morning. no display lights power or refrigeration.

checked cycled power at breaker and rocker switch. tested fuse/ok.

is there an internal breaker i can flip?

do i just go for transformer and check power there?

where is transformer located? cabinet or door?

I trust that when you say "tested fuse/ok" you mean the one near the on/off switch inside the vendor?
Did you test for power at the outlet the machine is plugged into?
If you open the main door there is an access panel on the bottom right side of the machine. The cover is hold on by 4 screws (i think). The power cord enters the machine and goes to some connections and transformers in that area. Test for power there.
Call me if you have any questions

I'm sure the refrigeration unit is not powered or controlled by the transformer. I'd keep looking for an issue to the supply, possibly a bad outlet.

took plug from inside vendor (for compressor power) and plugged into extension cord; compressor started and then popped fuse for extension cord.

Left compressor completely unplugged then cycled power to vendor. still no-go.

Would a bad compressor unit trip out whole machine? Is there a way to reset and use w/out compressor for now?

Nevermind. though you had plugged in the compressor independently but didn't work but rest of vendor did. sounds like you have a short somewhere. do you have 110 at where the cord plugs into the power supply?

Did you try calling the person you bought it from or AMS?

Waxman,

My internet has been down all day at the office, so I just logged on from home. What Eric posted was good and were all the things to check. From what I understand you unplugged the compressor from inside the vendor, plugged it into an extension cord, and blew the breaker on the extension cord. The refrigeration unit has gone bad. Then you left the unit uplugged and tried to power up the vendor. OK, no fluorescent lights; you do not have any 120 V to the transformer, so you will get no 24 V to the control board. You will need to check the voltage into the transformer to see if you have 120 V to it. The transformer is located inside the cabinet on the right side behind some removable covers. The second cover up from the bottom of the machine; it has keyhole shaped slots so the screws can be loosened and the cover lifted out. You should see the transformer right above the RFI; there is a "Line" side that is 120V and a "load" side that is 24 V. Measure these voltages and follow until you find a hot one. You might want to measure the voltages on the RFI to see if that black box is hot. Note: There is a small breaker on the transformer that protects the 24 V system and also a fuse that protects the 24 V system.

When the compressor goes, wires can be burnt in two and other problems might happen. If the weather has been hot there, that compressor really has to work.

Update;

GFI outlet was tripped.

restored power to machine and compressor tries to start and cannot.

unplugged compressor for now to get vendor operational.

removed doghouse from compressor/fan unit. unbolted 'skid' containing compressor and fan but it does not want to slide out.

what next?

Wax,

Pull out the bottom tray and set it aside so you have room to work. The skid that holds the compressor has 4 screws that secure it to the vendor floor; 2 in front which are obvious and two in the rear which are not obvious (One on the right and one on the left). There is also a PVC condensate hose in the right quadrant of the compressor frame that is zip tied to the evaporator pan with the sponges. Cut the zip tie. The refrigeration evaporator on the right has 4 screws that hold it also; two on the front (top and bottom) and two in the rear (top and bottom). After you remove all these screws then place the evaporator on top of the unit and the whole thing should slide out through the door. It is pretty heavy so be prepared. Use some gloves with large gautlents so you don't cut yourself on the fins which are very sharp and cut like knives. Good Luck.

Relay test

Waxman,

I talked to the AMS service people who suggested this procedure to check the relay.

The door switch is in the bottom, right corner of the door when open. Use duct tape to tape it closed like it would be if the door were shut. Wait 3 minutes for the time delay to run out. Check the voltage between the brown and yellow wires on the relay; it should be 24 VDC. If you have power to the relay but it doesn't start the refrigeration, the relay is probably bad.

Wax,

I'm not sure what you are looking at. If the relay, black and white is probably 120v AC power, green wires are grounded wires, so that leaves red and yellow as 24 VDC. The colors may have been different years ago, but I would think red is DC + and yellow is DC -. Do you have 24 VDC across red and yellow when you follow the procedure I gave you? Text me a pic so I can see what you see---559.901.6452

Waxman,

Can you do a quick link to those four pictures so some of the rest of us can follow along ... especially since a bunch of us have the same relevant AMS area that you are troubleshooting.

Wax,

You sent me pix of the power connections on the refrig unit itself. If that is where you are, you are in the wrong place for the procedure above. The relay that turns on the refrig unit is part of the the "black box" that the power cord plugs into in the cabinet. The brown and yellow wire are accessible in one of the harness bundles that goes from the door to the inside of the cabinet. The power connections on the unit itself is something that we do not fool with.

To see if the refrig unit works at all, unplug it from the cabinet and plug it into an extension cord that is plugged into another outlet. It either starts running or it won't. If it won't run, the refrig unit is dead.
