Sizing submersible pump.

To keep from buying a separate RO machine I need help in sizing a pump to pump from my new IBA to my Self Serve pump room. I have a 300 gallon RO storage tank in my IBA room. It is about 140' to my SS pump room. What size pipe should I bury in between the pump rooms and what size pump. I am going to use a storage tank and float switch in the SS to activate the submersible pump in the RO tank.

You won't need much of a pump for that. You could do something as simple as a FloJet in the auto room and a small tank in the self-serve room with a float valve.

Why use a pump?

If the 2 storage tanks are at the same elevation, a 3/4” pipe connected to the bottom outlets will fill and draw from them equally.

Install your high and low level switches in the tank nearest the RO machine and you’ll eliminate the additional control wiring to the 2nd tank.

If I used a flojet what size line should I run?

Depends on the size of your second tank. 3/8" OD tubing should keep up with one bay running. I rarely see more than two customers using spot-free at the same time.

I think CB80 had the right idea. Why add another pump if you don't need to?

If his RO system is in his auto equipment room and the line has to run overhead, it would still need a pump at least to prime the line.

It is buried but then has to go up and overhead into my other pump room.

If you can bury PVC for the underground run, 1/2" would be plenty. 3/4" wouldn't hurt if you plan to try and do it without a pump.

It would be overkill but just the cheapest sump pump you can find would work with no priming.
