Source for Vinegar

I am looking to buy 55 gal of Straight vinegar. I have zero connections for such an item.

I do not want to pay retail.

This is for my Zebra Mussels project.

Please do not suggest an alternative to vinegar as this decision is out of my hands.

Make your own....White Vinegar is acetic acid and water I'm pretty sure....

What percentage acetic acid are you allowed to use? Regular store bought vinegar is usually 5%. Here is some 30%

Every year since 1985 Orange, MA has held a 'Zebra Mussel Chowder' contest. I plan to make a pickled, Lithuanian version and want to test it in gi-normous batches.



Actually, we are a decontamination station for fishing boats that use the Quabbin Reservoir.

Well, If it is indeed just for cooking, it is cheap enough at the warehouse clubs I wouldn't go to much effort to try to find an industrial source. Two gallons at my Sam's club is 3.58, making 55 gallons around $100. I can't imagine buying it bulk containers being much cheaper due in part to the cost of the drum. Plus, it's easier to handle, no need for a drum pump, there's no waste, everything is guaranteed to be food grade, etc.

The decon process is applying hot water toboats, livewells, trailers etc.

The Vinegar is to douche the engine if boaters do not want hot water.

I am in a 'Zebra Mussel' area on the Colorado river. I was thinking of promoting my car wash as a mussel decontaminationion area. In looking on th web I did not see vinigar as a product to kill the mussels. The only thing I came across was hot water and Potassium Chloride At the reccomended ratio of 200ppm it is only one teaspoon per 2 gallons of water. At that ratio it is probably less "salt" than from my soft water.

What do you guys think?

Look around in your area for chemical suppliers. In my area, we can get 80% Acetic Acid, they use it for well treatment. Just dilute to your specifications.
