Spot Free System

I have a 8k gallon per day RO unit from Purclean. I noticed that my unit has only been producing 2 gallons of spot free per minute when it is supposed to produce 5-6 gallons per minute. I tried flushing the membranes with muriatic acid today and that did not work. The unit is only 2 years old. Any suggestions. I am thinking I need new membranes.

2 membranes to produce 8K per day? if they are the standard size (40x4) you would be at max of 3600 gal per day, or 2.25 per minute.

The system pressure and membrane pressure are usually the same, so one of your gauges isn't reading correctly. 200 PSI is the max for membranes, and having pressure as low as 130 will reduce production. Your problem could be a faulty flush solenoid, a mis-adjustment or a failing pump.

Low water temperature will also lower your output of RO. I do not see you getting 8000 gallons per day out of 2 membranes.

How's the feed water pressure to the unit? Inconsistent water pressure or low water pressure will affect the output of the unit.

What's the PPM of the output water of the unit? Is the unit producing Spot Free water or is the PPM on the rise?

If your membranes are bad, then you have other issues. Softener may not be working or chlorine charcoal filter may not be working which is allowing chlorine into the RO unit.
