Spots from ceramic coat

Could anyone tell me if white spots on the vehicle could be from too much ceramic coat? That’s the only thing I’ve changed recently. I’ve heard one of the old pros on here talk about “ just enough to break the water” but I think that was about wax. I pulled the wires off the solenoid and noticed I had way fewer spots on my truck this AM. I’m hoping that’s the problem. Should the ceramic coat be put on at 900psi? Or should I use a LP pass? Thanks

Sounds like maybe the ceramic coat was not rinsed well enough. Is that a possibility? If your cars are rinsed well enough, White spots can also be left from any water that is not spot free rinse water. It is not necessarily your ceramic product as the culprit.

Ceramic is best applied with low pressure. Higher pressure can cause some of the ceramic to bounce off the car, requiring more ceramic to create an even coat. Plus high pressure uses more water requiring additional product to achieve the correct titration. That said, I agree with Wash shine, I would start with my final rinse water first.

Yes
I recently stopped a LP rinse pass. I slowed down the hp rinse to compensate, but it’s still less water. I’d like to slow down the SFR pass, it just won’t produce it fast enough. Yesterday l had at least 70 cars through the touchless and was running out of SFR water. The soap salesman is coming to the wash Monday to try some sort of booster. I’ve complained enough about a light film I see on black vehicles. I’ll ask him if the RO seems ok. Hopefully everything will get ironed out before I get the other carwash. You guys are great!!

I know you probably realize this Bricks, but if you are noticing it on black cars, it is on all cars. I think sometimes soap salesmen will use a phrase like “you might notice something on black cars” or “some cars have windshield masking”. The reality is that these are the conditions where it is most visible , but it exists on all of your cars - at least the ones with the same soil build up. Many on this forum have mentioned a white globe test after a wash - down the side of the car or on the hood to see what is being left, regardless of the color of the car . I think this a a good practice.
