SS Credit Card systems -what time/price are you providing?

I actually had a guy tell me the other day that he thinks he gets a better deal...in the back of my mind, I was saying to myself that it's only because you don't have to listen to the countdown timer beeping at you every time you deposit a quarter.

He's right if he's one of those who waits until the last minute alert before adding more money. I'm always tempted to tell people "Just wait until it runs out, you're wasting your own time and money stopping and feeding the meter with the timer running when you could be washing." I catch myself doing the same thing.

I have had the EV credit card system in 3 locations for about 2 years using the count down mode. $2.50 to start and $1 for each additional swipe. Average use is around $5 per wash with this setup. Today I just got a Wash gear setup at a fourth location and I am using the count up method. It will be interesting to see which system works out better.

I am happy with the EV systems I have. I got them with the new coin boxes with built in bill acceptors. The fourth location already had bill accpetors built in and I had a token teller for credit cards at the fourth location. It would have been difficult to retrofit all new coin boxes in the fourth wash. I also had internet at the fourth location so it would not be an added expense to add the wash gear system. Both companies IMO provided me with great service for the installs. I can see a couple of pro's and con's with each system. As I get more experience with the wash gear stuff I will report back.

It has not been a week since I installed the wash gear count up credit card readers vs. my established EV count down CC readers at other washes. My EV system is $2.50 for the first swipe and a $1 per swipe after that. TIme for both systems is running about 9 minutes for purchased times. This is above the cash time purchased averages.
A lot of debate has gone on about count up vs. count down for CC. SO far in my opinion they both equal about the same amount of time being purchased. One does not seem to outdo the other in my operations. This may change over time. I plan to continue to run both methods and probably will not change unless I see one method start to pull ahead.
