I recently installed a used Pur-Clean 3000GPD in my 5 bay SS with the 1hp delivery pump to the bays, but I did not get the delivery manifold going out to the bays. I did as much research as I thought I needed to do to decide on the correct manifold and apparently I needed to do more.....

Problem is: I seem to have good pressure out in the bays (I don't know exact number but I have a good spray pattern and little sting when you run it across your hand 3206 tips.) but not enough volume of water to really do much. I noticed right away that it was less than desirable and I see customers turning it on and giving up on it after a few seconds because of the same issue. I completely understand that RO water is expensive so there is a balance to how much you deliver but if no one is using it, it sort makes for a bad investment. And spotty water is the #1 complaint I have had at my site.

The manifold I uses is:

From the pump to the manifold I ran 3/4" line and T'd it so it goes in both ends of the block.

I used this check valve above the booms:

And I ran 3/8 poly airbrake lines from the manifold to the bay.


My guess is the manifold is the lowest flow point, but I have obviously guessed wrong before. :confused: So what says the group, how do I get more volume out to my happily paying customers?

1. What kind of pump are you using?
2. What is the max gpm or gph output of the pump? What is the max output PSI?
3. Does the volume decrease when multiple bays are on or are they all the same?
4. Why are you using 3206 tip?
5. Remove the 3/4 Tee and plumb only (1) 3/4 feed into the manifold and on the other manifold end mount a pressure relief valve ( if the pump does not have and internal relief valve) and pressure gauge to adjust psi. If your pump has a relief valve just thread on a gauge.

Also using a 1/4 manifold you are restricting inlet flow. I recommend 1/2 or 3/4 inlet and 3/8 outlet.

I have the same kip manifold for my sfr. 3/8 nylon tubing to the bays. Max presure is about 200psi. I run at 150psi. There are a few customers I've seen switch back to hp rinse, but most use it and don't complain. You can still do your car in a minute or less. But my water is good without it. 110 tds from the street, 0-5 tds sfr. The tips I use are 2506. My system is a dultmeier and sounds like it is designed exactly like yours.

The benefit, quick sfr delivery since it's tee'd above the bay. Draw-back is the lower pressure. Mine has been installed almost 5 years and does get used a lot.

It would be a bit of overkill, but the orifice in the solenoid is actually bigger than the plumbing. I'm running the bays at 450 PSI and need a HP solenoid.

I wouldn't use Dema - they require 5 PSI to hold closed and you'll have RO water dripping in your bays.

Guys, you have to remember, the biggest restriction in the system is the nozzle! At 1200 psi you only get about 3 gpm flow through a 2506 tip. So a 3/32 [.094"] orifice will flow more than enough. The limiting factor in a poly or nylon tubing system is the tubing. You want more volume/pressure, run the sfr through the hp pump. But then you have other issues to contend with. Cb80, you know what those issues are, right!

The problem is that every time there's a restriction like a small orifice in a solenoid, even if it's a bigger one than the tip, there is flow loss from restriction. It might surprise you how much more flow you get in the bay if the solenoids are substantially oversized.

Thanks Guys! I'll order a larger solenoid and give it a shot. I'll also install a pressure gauge while I'm at it.

I have some other tips to experiment with I just haven't had time to see what I like. I'm in a rural area and I apparently like customers leaving me as much mud as possible so I've been using lots of water volume and pressure. :eek:
