I took down all of my mechanical vendors since I got the new Shurvend. My problem is that now you can see the vacs more and they look awful. They are tarnished really bad. What is a good cleaner that will make those babies shine like new. I want them to look ridiculously bright.

Ideas?

Zep makes a great aerosol stainless steel cleaner. If might be available at Home Depot.

The aerosol stainless cleaner will help them shine, but it's like applying Armor All. It'll wear or wash off and they'll look dingy again, and it attracts dust. Use Zep-Alume-E or Klean Wall on them, a light bit of brushing and a rinse, and they'll look new again. Make sure it doesn't dry while you're working, otherwise it will leave stains.

I only use stainless cleaner (Specifically Sheila Shine liquid, not aerosol) on the tops of the domes to make the bird poop easier to wipe off.

If you let Zep's Stainless Steel Cleaner set for a few minutes and scrub it will do the job. It doesn't protect. It is more of a cleaner but once you get it clean it is an easy way to maintain it.

Bubbles,
The tarnish is rusting of the free iron particles in the steel. Spray HF diluted 10:1 scrub lightly and rinse. This will remove the iron particles on the surface of the stainless. You can wax or polish if you want more shine.

Bubbles,

If you go to www.scratch-b-gone.com/ you will see a unique kit that we just started using & it seems better that anything we have tried so far. We are cleaning up our fabricated stainless for our future dog wash. There is a technique that they describe & it is a little spendy.

As a finishing touch we are using a common low rpm buffer with the compound that is made for stainless from Acme Electric & put on terry cloth pads. It seems like the end results is a mirror finish to us on stainless that was roughed up plenty by fabrication handling etc. It has something to do with keeping the finish lines all going in the same direction.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for all the input! I guess I will just have to get out there and see what will work the best for my vacs. I don't have the capital to do the "big" improvements and additions, but that doesn't mean the site itself should be neglected. If I can't put new machines in, I can at least make the old ones look like new :D

I guess I've never tried it that way. Yes, it is available at Home Depot. I'll give it a try on the more stubborn bird poop stains on the domes.
