I put cryptopay on a older Wash Select 2 and periodically when a customer swipes and selects a wash the screen will say Sale Approved but it won't activate the wash. It has done it on my bottom and middle wash so far. Has anyone had this happen or know how to fix it?

This same exact problem has been happening at my wash since 2019. Its the most frustrating thing ever! We have had multiple people from my distributor try to fix it, and at this point I literally have a sign under the screen on my WSII that says "If machine gets stuck on "sale approved" and doesn't fire wash please call 1-360-xxx-xxxx", my personal cell phone number.
It happens anywhere from 1 time per month, to 4 times per day depending on it's mood. We are led to believe that it's some kind of problem with Cryptopay. It will happen on all of my washes when paid with card.
My tech from my distributor and I have so far... verified that all Cryptopay settings are correct with Wesley from Cryptopay, checked all the wiring connections to the CC reader, replaced the card reader, used dielectric grease on all the connections, replaced the ribbon cable that connects to the Cryptopay retrofit kit. Next up we will be replacing the Cryptopay retrofit circuit board.
I'm so frustrated with it that it has become funny, as it's favorite time to say "sale approved" is right after I've taken my first bite of dinner...
Either way, they will have you check all these things first, so that's a good place to start!

Hi! I just wanted to chime in and see if you have any updates with your problems either improving, staying the same, or getting worst with your cryptopay. I am wanting to open my first car wash and it has a wash select 2 I want to repurpose and was looking at the cryptopay retro fit system but hearing all these issues it is quite concerning. Is it better to just get the wash select 2 in its original working condition and not retorfitting it with the crypto pay stuff? or do I need cryptopay to process the transactions? I am still learning about the business and dont really know how the credit card processing stuff works.

@thecasino5 Still not fixed yet. May have something to do with the hot weather, but it's been happening twice a day lately. I know there are plenty of other people running the WSII with the retrofit kit without any issues, so it seems like it is not a super common problem. My distributor is working on getting us a replacement retrofit kit circuit board, and I will let you know how it works/ if it fixes the problem. The WSII hasn't had any other problems other than this "sale approved" issue, and with a quick reset, goes back to working for another 20-100 cars. I'm not sure what other credit card processors would be an option, as cryptopay seems to be the go-to processor nowadays, I think Nayax (could be spelled wrong) was another option that was offered to us? The good side of cryptopay is that if you install their swipers on all of your equipment and a customer uses multiple machines they wait and combine all of the customers transactions into one charge after 3 hours, and only charge you one transaction fee.

My WSII has been bulletproof with the retrofit kit for the last 3 years.

@8th Street Car Wash - I heard a story from another car wash owner in town here that the swiper needs to be paired with the retrofit circuit board, he was telling me his swiper went bad, tried to put in a new one and it took him a couple weeks to figure out that the retrofit board not being paired to the swiper was the problem.

This may or may not be of help. When I installed the crypto pay on my Hamilton ACW 4 a few years ago, every once in a while, it would keep rearming washes nonstop. Not sure how many free washes were given. If I pulled the power to the swiper and reconnected it would be good again for a few days. A couple calls back and forth with crypto pay, they updated my firmware, and it has been good ever since.
Maybe check with them for an update?

Ive got the same issues with one of my WSII units that started a few weeks ago. the screen is blank and it will still take cash most times it does it. It got to where a reboot wouldn't fix it. I had to open it up and disconnect the coin input plug on the back of the input board for the display to start working again. All cryptopay suggested was disconnecting and reconnecting the add on board and cable. My other WSII doesn't have this issue. It's bad enough I have ordered a spare board and swiper.

One of the things Ive wondered is whether my 5VDC power supply it too low, it's measuring 4.5 on the back of the input board

I had the problem a few months ago. WSII would lock up and no-one was able to wash. Swiper would be flashing orange, Display stated sale approved, but would not trigger wash. Always had to reset the WSII to get it back going. This problem was completely intermittent and never knew when it would happen again. But would do it every hundred washes or so. Call Cyptopay and got the change ribbon cable and make sure everything had grease on it and was tight. Then I noticed standing there working on it that the display would flash how much currency was entered for a split second. This display always showed a value less than required too start. The display would show this about every 1.5 minutes for a fraction of a second. See attachment. Is was so fast that I had to video it to see what it was stating. If you would enter the remaiong cash need to start it would work. So I chalk it up as a coin pulse issue since the WSII was not getting the total pulses for the sale. I knew the customers had enter the correct amount. I pulled everything off and greased all the pins of the ribbon cable and redid all the wires, doubling them up, greasing them and making sure the connections to the board were very tight and the issue has resolved itself. This was/is still a very puzzling issue with me since I never did find that smoking gun. Having done this many years, I would have told you that there was nothing wrong with the connections in the first place, but since that time it the WSII has been running perfect without this issue. Hope this helps.

So a possible fix!
The sale approved issue finally came to a head and decided to sale approve every single transaction the Wednesday before last, it would also do something new and beep the same amount of times as the wash price, immediately after selecting the wash I was trying to fire. (example: 16 beeps for my $16 wash) My distributor contacted Cryptopay for the 1000th time, and they literally had no idea what was going on. On a whim, Cryptopay told us to move the red and green wire from pin 6 to pin 5 (one coin pulse input to the other coin pulse input) and magically we haven't had one sale approved message in a week and a half. If you are struggling with this same issue let me know and I can take pictures of exactly what we did.
I don't want to jinx it by saying its fixed, but this is the longest that it hasn't had a sale approved message in a very very long time. :)

I am still fighting this battle. Did that fix your problem? I tried it and it did not fix it on mine.

@APW Yes, it seemed to work for us. Sorry to hear that you are struggling with the same problem. Believe me, I know how frustrating it is :(

All of this sounds like a bad wiring connection to me. When my wash was renovated and I added Crypto pay to my cashier, A customer would swipe the card and be charged but no wash would activate. It wound up being a bad connection that I had made. Once that connection was made properly everything worked great and has been fine ever since. So I guess what I'm saying is that it never hurts to go back and double or triple check all your wiring connections.

I wanted to update this old thread. I was having trouble similar to APW with my unit rebooting and hanging up. It became more frequent. Checking on the back of the I/O board I found DC voltage to be kinda low. 4.3-4.5 volts or so. I mentioned it cryptopay and they weren't too concerned. A few Months ago I decided to play around and find a way to increase the voltage. I ended up disconnecting all the led backlights on the displays on the I/O board and the voltage jumped closer to 5 volts. This was several Months ago. I think I have had one unit hang up once since then, where I was dealing with this problem several times weekly before disconnecting the lights. I think the easiest solution will be to power the board lights with a separate power supply. Anyway, hopefully someone will find this helpful if they are having similar problems.

I’m dealing with the issue you had with the sale approved message on ws II I’ve changed crypto pay board, unhooked the 4 Wash selections off the display board hoping to reduce amperage draw. Nothing has seemed to work. Did you ever figure anything out?

It seemed to fix the problem when I replaced the ribbon cable from the display board to the main board on the door.

I had replaced the ribbon cable earlier but that did not correct it

Have you checked voltage like Greg suggested?

I found another shorting problem a couple Months ago when a hopper went bad. It was a bit of a head scratchier because I would go out and try cash and it worked fine. Only when I overpaid and the coin dispenser tried to work would it short out. I found another similar problem that was solved by disconnecting the speaker. So apparently many things can make that shorting happen. I never experienced these types issues before the crytopay retrofit so maybe they are making the unit a bit more voltage sensitive. Might be a good idea to replace the power supplies which are available from RDM for less than unitec, and even less from electronic supply houses like mouser. Unitec supposedly has a retrofit kit that upgrades the power supply and makes it more accessible but I think it is about 1K.

Wonder if it's worth having a separate, dedicated power supply for the cryptopay side to maintain a clean, stable power source for that unit?
