I did not get an answer to the earlier post. For those who have done it. What types of changers do you have and what was the cost to change to dollar coins.
I have 2 Rowe BC 1400. They were already equipped with the quarter/large token coin hoppers which handle the $1 coin without modification. Therefore, all I had to do was change the controller's programming to vend one coin for a dollar, five coins for a fiver, etc.

I already had Microcoin acceptors in the bays and vacuums. I replaced the carpet shampooer's Sensatron quarter acceptor with a Microcoin. I replaced the troublesome mechanical drop shelf vendors with Laurel's electronic vendors with Microcoins (solving two problems at once). My Crane glass-front vendor came equipped with a Coinco multi-coin acceptor/change maker.

IIRC I spent $2,100 for the Laurel vendors. But, since I needed to replace the old, troublesome vendors, the additional cost to switch from mechanical to electronic was about $900. I think the Microcoin for the shampooer was about $200. So, my total conversion cost came in at about $1,100.

I suppose if I'd had to replace all the equipment...
$200 x 15 coin acceptors = $3000.
$700 x 3 vendors = $2100.
Crane vending machine = $2800.
Total $7900 + tax, freight, and my labor.
