I scored an awesome deal on some parts for my touchfree wash recently. Given they no longer make my machine anymore, the deal was even better. I got complete PLC's, belts, drive wheels, prox switches, ultrasonic sensors, rotary unions ($2683 new), gearbox / motor combos, ($1200 ea. new), all for one great price. The operator had installed a new DS i5000. This is typical, I have found, and it is what reminds me of how great the people in carwashing are.

Since most of the postings on here are about issues operators are having, it is nice to see the other side.

I have always admired how operators share helpful information with each other even some times when they are competitors. Unfortunately I think that local car wash organizations have faded away. I can remember attending many of them around the country and always thought that the camaraderie and sharing of ideas was a good thing for all the washes in the area. I think it is important that anything one can do to improve the industry as a whole benefits us all.

Also to come together in a unified enough way ... when disaffecting laws are made & public presentation is necessary on how present laws are enforced could also be a worthwhile outcome of similar togethers. I remember ... not too long ago ... being at a table at a Chamber of Commerce Mixer at our local Regional Cancer Center ... & having some great bantor back n forth with some former midwest area Ryko car wash installers! Those guys were for real ... even though they had left the car wash field & moved on to other different careers.

The benefit of local organizations is that they can fight local issues. The Regional and National organizations can get into much larger issues that often have little or nothing to do with local problems. I know it is not a popular position but neither of those organizations do much to help the little guy except collect dues and hold expensive shows.
