Since we started going to LV for the convention we have stayed in a different motel each time. The last three years we have stayed at Luxor, NYNY, and Monte Carlo, staying a week each time. I booked MC last year only to have them e-mail me a better offer a couple weeks later. The deal was good enough to cancel the first res and book a small suite for less money. Since we felt we had seen all we wanted to see at that end of the strip we decided to go down to the other end this year. We settled on a Treasure Island Petite Suite and I booked it when I thought I had an ok deal. Well, a couple of weeks later I got an e-mail offer from MC for nearly an identical room for over $500 less. I called TI to see if they could sweeten the deal with a discount, but they said no-go. Needless to say, I canceled TI and went back up the street to MC. Well, lo and behold I get another offer from TI that was more than MC, but better than the original deal that they couldn't budge on a little over a week ago. You know where this is going...last night I canceled MC and booked right back at TI. I'm already tired and haven't even left town yet, but I think I'm done.
I might add that we are by no means big gamblers. 500 bucks will easily cover the budget for the whole week for both of us. We have signed up for players cards and signed the online guest books for the hotels and they just start sending offers. I'm sure the last few years has been tough on them and they are probably looser with offers to fill empty rooms, but I'll take 'em while I can get them.
