Timer problem

I got a call from a customer yesterday. He said he inserted $5.00 in quarters but only got a couple of minutes of wash time before the bay turned off. He said that the timer displayed 25 minutes after inserting the money but the beeper started going off almost as soon as he began washing. My bays use LED7 timers and are set up for $2./4 minutes or $5/25 minutes. I tried the bay this morning and of course it works perfectly. I also counted the money and the electronic count matches the actual money.

Any ideas what could cause this problem? Is the timer bad?

He may be mistaken or just lying.

I had a guy tell me he deposited $1.25 and it displayed five minutes then dropped down to three when the timer started. I explained to him several times that it said 05:IN and not 5MIN, but he just kept saying he was ripped off. Even after I showed him that with four quarters it displayed IN and not MIN he still insisted "But it dropped down to three minutes!"

I had a guy come up to me one day and said he put a $5 bill in a bay and it only gave him two minutes, so he moved to another bay, deposited another $5 and it did the same thing. He claimed he called and left a message asking for a refund (A lie), then when I thought he'd left he went to those two bays and asked the customers washing if the time seemed too short to them. He came back to me and told me it did the same thing to both of them (A lie, both customers told me "He's "full of s***" and what he really asked). Even after he was busted he still wanted me to hand him $10 cash.

I had an LED7 do that once, it would work fine for awhile and then go on the blink and cut the time and shut off. I saw it happen, sent the timer into dixmor...they sent back a few times thinking it was fixed and it did it again.. I believe on the 3rd try they got it or gave me a new one, its worked great since.

I have had a bay with LED7 miss coins. Your sitiuataion may be the same or different. It would take some coins (SB2 acceptors) yet not register them. But it only happened sometimes . Is this possibly your case?

I had that once too. It was one of my regular customers. I checked the cameras and yes, the wash stopped after two minutes: which is impossible. It must have been either 1.5 minutes or 3 but not 2 depending on the coins she had put in. It never happened again.
