So can you explain to us mere mortals how it is more efficient to use 3 or4 solenoids rather than just one? One sol also takes the air off of the pumps. This helps prevent stalling when you get 4 rainy days in a row and have older pumps.

It’s best that you never use 110 volts near any of your solenoid banks for safety concerns. If you want to install a single air shut off solenoid valve to turn off the air to the pump use an IDX MX-8 controller or 4 relays. It’s cheaper for equipment manufactures to not install any controls to turn On and Off the air to any of the pumps.

Are your Procon pumps nowhere near your solenoid banks?
If you rely upon a single solenoid on the output of a pump for "shutting it off"....you'll eventually be sorry. My original wash had that setup. I arrived one morning to find that a solenoid had failed to close. Without a deadhead on the output....the pump ran wide open. A full barrel of soap pumped down the drain.
Every pump now has a solenoid on the air input.
If multiple bays use the same pump (Foaming Brush, Tire Cleaner, PreSoak), the air input is controlled by a PLC. It wasn't hard to program.
