Toilet seat vs. steering wheel

A recent study by Queen Mary University in London showed that a car steering wheel is 9 times dirtier than a public toilet seat. A typical steering wheel has over 700 different kind of germs per square inch on it. A public toilet seat is around 80. The study further showed that only 1/3 of americans clean the inside of their vehicle more than once per year. A trunk in the typical car has 1000 bacteria per square inch. The most common type of germ is bacillas cerus which causes food poisoning. Makes me think of grocery carts at a supermarket. At least most provide a santizing wipe. Something to think about when entering other folks vehicles.

Would this info help people wash more or just gross them out. I am going to wash my steering wheel tomorrow! It must be 20x dirtier than my seat at home if 9x dirtier than a public seat.

When I get a new (used of course) car, the steering wheel is the first thing I scrub.

I mean I scrub. With brute force and maximum general purp. cleaner. The I scrub again.

Didn't know the fact re; toilet seat but not surprised one bit. Urine is sterile.

When I was young I would worry more about germs in the back seat rather than the steering wheel.
