Token Decals

The reason I am changing to tokens only is because we have a major vandalism problem at this one site. We are getting broken into almost every night. Quarters are getting stolen and equipment is getting torn up. My site manager is an x fire chief, his dad was retired chief of police, he carries his piece, and he won?t go around there at night. I?ve been told about the machine gun fights out in front of the place, but it?s one of the busiest car washes I?ve got. Hello Prichard Alabama Police? we are the car wash on 45 across from Burger King. Where are you? Damn the alarm system. It just makes a bunch of noise and the police don?t come.

Just because some people believe that you have to accept all forms of payment, doesn?t make it right. I?m yanking these quarters out of circulation, and I don?t see a credit card system going in this place any time soon. I don?t think my customers there carry them. Even if they did, I?d still have the same customers. ??? Continued...

An absentee owner like me with multiple locations hundreds of miles away with a bunch of different site managers handling the cash has an added benefit with tokens only. It?s more accountable, less inside theft. And btw, every big business chain has a bunch of peoples hands in the money. KFC, Exxon, Walmart, all of them. You gotta roll with the punches if you want to grow.

I?m going to convert this one location to $1 tokens only as a test site. I?m going to raise the bays from $1.50 for 4 ? minutes to $2 for 5 minutes, and bump up the vacs to $1. Instead of adding a quarter for more time, you add a buck. I?ve got two more car washes in the same city; same weather patterns, I?ll see if tokens only really loses money.

Another reason for tokens only: cost of conversion to multi coin acceptance in 67 bays, 52 vacs, a slew of Flintstone drop shelf vendors, an air machine, etc. It would cost me at least $25,000 right now to upgrade all the equipment just to accept multiple coins. And I would not get the benefits of less vandalism and less inside theft.

Sure it sounds politically correct to accept all forms of cash and credit, but there is a cost to do that and some losses that go along with it. You gotta factor all that stuff in. Remember, we are getting our equipment torn up every night. It?s the real world and its real money that I don?t have. Look who is tokens only. Experienced operators. We?ll see.

Id get rid of the cash too - which means I'd rethink the credit card part.

I'm pretty sure kleen rite does have the stickers you want - call and ask, they dont show everything in the catalog.

But if nobody has them ... I've had custom stickers made up before, its not cheap but it doesnt cost a fortune either, I think I got a hundred made for a hundred bucks or so. Did it all thru the internet.

You might consider custom screen prints. I have my ACW fronts with a nice background, text I want ect. They cost about $20 each for the sign shop to print on vinyl. It is more work to create up front, but they are a lot more 'marketing oriented' than the manufacturer version.

I make up my own decals on my Mac using Print Explosion and take the graphic files to FastSigns or another sign company and they make up the decals. You can do it too.
I've even made large decals to cover the Rowe 1400 bill changers and I've made large 4' x 3' bay signs with all the instructions.
