Hi, I got a US 2001 OHD that is stuck at back of the bay. Gantry would not move forward or reverse. Took Motor from gearbox and still no movement of the shaft motor. Motor is original that 10 yr old but only got 30,000 wash. are there replacement motors that I can buy or do I have to buy the Invensys blue-green color motor from ryko distributor.

also anyone know what X 53 (which is lit on my plc) mean. It says rear end stop but don't know why that is lit.

Thanks ahead.

You can use any motor that is rated for the same rpm, voltage etc. I have replaced these with baldor motors for example. Are you sure the motor is bad? Check the wires on the back of the switch that drives the machine. I have seen this switch get turned and pull the wires out of the back of the switch. I have also had the machine get confused and put itself into a mode where it will not drive itself forward or back. The rear end stop prox is triggered by prox switches mounted on the gantry on the left side of the gantry.
I doubt the motor is the problem. Try turning the arm like it would be spraying the front of a car and physically pull the gantry to the middle of the bay. That will pull it off of the rear end stop prox sensor plates. Then do a complete shut down of the computer so it will reset itself. If you can not pull the gantry to the middle of the bay unhook the wire that goes to input 53 to turn off the rear end prox signal to the computer and see if the machine drives. This might let you then drive the machine.
I have had the problem you describe when the machine is at the very front of the bay or at the very back of the bay and the wrong end stop proxes get triggered.

I will try it, the machine is in the front of the bay now. do you take the tread tape off the gears to move the gantry? I never physical move the gantry except with two people rotating the rollers at same time on each side. Info is very informative thanks soapy

If the machine is in the front of bay and the rear end prox input is on you have the machine too far forward and both front and rear end proxes are on. I can generally roll my gantry back by grabbing the arm and slowly pulling it towards the front or back.

Machine working now.
Here what happen, I changed the motor and wired in backwards. Switched the white and red. This caused forward button to move gantry into reverse. I accidently made the machine go too much forward where both prox switch is lit. This cause the gantry motor to not have power. I couldn't do anything. Soapy tip to bring machine back to center of bay was key. This then allowed me to test the used motor that I got off an used OHD machine. The previous owner had replaced the Invensys motor with a Lesson motor. The wiring was different. Only had black, white, and green wire to a 3 phase motor. Green obvious was a hot. This is different from my broken motor which had black, white, red, and green wire going to it. Once I got machine to go back to center position, this gave power to gantry motor and switched the red and white wires to get gantry to move in the right direction. I then put machine back to home, and works great. Just in time for a good pollen filled weekend.

I had to manually move gantry to center of bay by turning both roller on each side. Two person job. Soapy you must be strong to push the arm and cause gantry to move. :)
