U.S. Marines under attack

By now you have seen or heard about the tempest in the teapot about the Marines peeing on dead taliban. I hear great umbridge expressed about this from all the talking heads. "How could they DO this." These are the great religiuos people who in the name of Islam cut the heads off of our troops and citicens. They dress their woment in black sheets head to toe. They send their kids into crowds to blow themselves up. And we are susposed to be upset that my Marines peed on their corps? Too bad real history is not taught anymore. During the Pacific island campaigns of WW2 out troops would sometimes cut the head off of a dead combatant and place it on a spike and place it on out tanks. These marines should be rewarded. I doubt that with our current administration that despises our military it will do any good to send messages to them and ask them to stop this nonsense.

Those Marines are idiots. They broke the UFCMJ and deserve whatever punishment is coming there way. Trying to justify bad behavior by saying the other guys do worse is not acceptable. I expect more out of our military than that.

I guess all our troops that have been beheaded or burned or tortured was not a sign from them. We like to think our guys are much more civilized than the animals they fight. Why is it so bad to pee on them, but no big deal to kill them. When it comes to war it seems like symbolism is worse than reality.

I was thinking the same thing hearing thi story last night on the radio.

I'd be concerned if I were the Marine who posted this video online. If he thought it was wrong, he should have reported the behavior to his superiors and let them deal with discipline in-house. Leaking this to the world was stupid and puts him and our military at danger.

IMO it was a childish act out of frustration but since we have been "trained" to live in a fairy land where everything is perfect, we are offended by anything that goes against our tiny sensitivities. It is pretty pathetic that we can blow their brains out, but peeing on them freaks out the whole world. Actually, maybe a few people with a mic are offended, the rest of us, just hope that our boys get home safe.

This is one of the reasons that we no longer go into war with the intention of winning. It might make the losers feel bad.

It seems like there are two sets of acceptable behavior - one for normal, every day life and one for war. For some, actions that may be acceptable for one are not for the other. While it is difficult to condone the actions of these Marines it is also hard to imagine how it must be facing death and seeing fellow soldiers killed everyday at the hands of an enemy that seems to ignore basic human dignity.

War changes ones mentality. I had relatives and others I have known that fought in WWII which some consider the last "conventional" war that related some pretty nasty actions that occurred on both sides. During the Viet Nam era I heard of some things that make this action almost acceptable.

While I am sure actions like these have occurred in the most recent conflicts on occasion I find it really unfortunate that someone videoed this and then revealed it for all the world to see. It certainly cannot help our forces on the ground so it should be condemned for that alone.

Is anyone else reminded of Revolutionary war times when the British thought it was "civilized warfare" to have each side stand in lines shooting at each other? When the American army started hiding behind trees etc. the British called foul.

This seems to happen throughout history, once a civilization becomes to wealthy or "civilized" a few generations pass and the society is no longer willing to do what it takes to maintain their status in the world. Look at the Romans and the "barbarians" (germanic peoples), the British and their colonies etc.

You can't hold yourself to a higher standard than your enemy, when war is the game and death is the loser's prize.

A little off subject. In Portland, OR a CStore after having been robbed many times, bought a gun and killed the next robber, being freaked out he emptied his gun into the dead body, the DA charged with with desecrating a corpse. Thankfully the jury threw it out.

IN FL many years ago, a 80 year old lady killed a rapist AFTER he broke into her condo. The DA charged her with murder, worldwide pubic outrage, made him change his mind a couple of days later. Our bleeding hearts are killing us.

The next thing that will happen is our government will bow and scrape, fly the bodies and families here give them a hero's burial and give the family citizenship.

To those of you that disagreed with my thoughts, so be it. I will most likely not change your mind. The fact though that you are active on this forum does mean that you do have a mind, and I respect that. I spent four years in the Marines, never in the intense hand to hand stuff that some ran into, but still I became very familiar with military life. A little "tour" o fViet Nam. ALL militaries ahve been doing this stuff when looking at the people who were just earlier tried to kill them. Should you ever have to look at someone in the eye, that is at very close and intimate circumstances, where you just know that only one of you will survive this chance meeting, and walk away, you might just feel a little jubliant. It is very common knowledge that when in intense combat, you also sometimes need to pee real bad. It is the physiology of the bodies we are in.This has been going on for milleniea. You can pronounce umbradge. That's fine. Just please respect those who actually look down the barrel of a weapon and the sometimes supuriuos reactions when you survive a real firefight. Semper Fidelis.
